Aly Chase has worked for Paul Pierce for years, loving him from afar. He is handsome, rich, and the powerful CEO of Pierce Homes. Just when Aly has decided her love for him is futile and vows to move on, Paul begins to give Aly the attention she had always desired, forcing her to feel confused by his actions.

Then there’s Aly’s best friend, Ethan Baker. He’s sweet, handsome and charming. He is also in love with her. He’s accepted that Aly and he will only be friends, until one day Aly realizes that her feelings towards Ethan are way more.

Aly is caught in between the man she’s loved for so long and the man that has always been there for her. As her feelings are pulled and tugged in both directions, she must make a choice before her distorted life loses both of them.

Who will end up winning Aly’s heart?

 Exclusive POV EXCERPTS:

As we stood there going over our notes for the meeting with Mr. Halliday, I couldn’t help but stare at her as she stood over my desk, looking at a document.  Her blonde hair had fallen over her cheek and I ached to brush it behind her ear.  I didn’t though as I’d promised her I’d stay professional at work but all I could think about was swiping my things from the desk again and having my way with her, again.  She was so beautiful and I’d messed it up.  I still couldn’t believe I’d thought my only option was to sleep with Casey to keep her from finding Aly in that damn closet.  I would never forgive myself for that colossal error.

She looked up at me, obviously having asked me a question and her olive green eyes captivated me once again.  How I stopped myself from slamming my lips to hers, I’d never know.  I cleared my throat, shook my head, and asked her to repeat her question.  This staying professional at work thing was going to kill me.

The moment I woke up and found her kissing me, was the best moment of my life.  I was stunned but there was no way I was going to stop her.  I had no idea what had changed but I wasn’t about to ask.  Aly was kissing me.  Thinking about it later, I still had a big grin on my face.  Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think things would change between us.  I had told myself over and over that I’d rather be her friend than nothing at all but this change of events made my heart sing.  I wanted nothing more than to pop the question to her but I knew I had to take things extremely slow. She was still a mess over what that idiot did to her.  I was going to be there for her in every way she needed me.  I loved her.  All I wanted to do was wipe away the scars Pierce had left on her soul and show her just how much she means to me, to show her what she does to me.  Hopefully, I’ll be able to.

17557108D’s Review:

I always like to read books from new authors. Authors we have no clue about and that there has been no hype about. DISTORTED by Laura Dunaway is one such book and author.
I went into this book blind. I like not having any expectations and reading without a preconceived opinion.
Let me say that for a debut novel, this is pretty solid. There are definitely things Laura can work on for her next book but for a first book and putting herself out there, she has done a good job.
The story line itself is was good. I enjoyed the philanthropic aspect to it as it gave Distorted sincerity and warmth. This aspect was almost like a sub story that made you cheer for the underdog. You definitely wanted Mr. Halliday to come around. The plot itself was well formulated and logical.
Let’s get right to the book boys, Paul and Ethan. Both have fabulous qualities that make you swoon. One is well versed in a high profile lifestyle filled with money, power and deceptive people. You can never be sure if you’re coming or going with him. The other is down to earth, unsuspecting in his attractiveness, kind and loyal to a fault.
The ladies of Distorted— well the antagonist, Casey is a right bitch and you so easily hate her character and have known one or two of her types in your lifetime. She is a surface beauty, conniving, dishonest and a full on bitch.
The protagonist, Aly’s heart is pulled in two directions. Her heart knows whom she wants but there are things that keep her in love limbo. Aly has a keen sense for business. She is passionate about what she believes.
Being this is Laura Dunaway’s debut novel, she is definitely finding her own niche and vibe to her writing style. Things that didn’t make Distorted a 5 star read were, there was some repetition in descriptions. The scenes were still great but towards the end of the book, I wanted to hear the passion and intensity with different words. The other thing that did not make this a 5 star read for me was I felt like I wanted more out of some of the characters. The development was great for Aly. However, with Ethan and Paul, I wanted more from them. There were times that Ethan was almost too passive. Don’t get me wrong he is still a fabulous book boyfriend to add to your list. With Paul I wanted to see more of his assertiveness and aggressiveness. He was a powerful businessman who got what he wanted. I wanted to see more of that man. Paul is all man and sexy as all get out.
The WTF moment was totally unexpected and a great base for the conflict in the story.
Distorted was a solid debut by new indie writer Laura Dunaway. I definitely feel there will be growth in her writing from book two, which will be from one of the guy’s POV’s. There will be a lot of story to run with in that one. I look forward to it. Distorted is an easy read and one that is great to use after a heavy read or one that leaves you with a book hangover. D 3.5/5

~THIS TRUST OF MINE by Amanda Bennett~ Review and Blog Tour

Hey all Flirty and Dirty is last stop on the THIS TRUST OF MINE Blog Tour. This is book two in the Raine Series.  Raine being none other than Madison Raine *swoon*

Check out my review and excerpt and be sure to enter the giveaway!!!

My feet left the ground with the strength of his arms pulling me up and into him. My arms instinctively wrapped tightly around his neck with the strength of a thousand men. I breathed in his scent and my lips grazed the base of his heated neck. He was here. He was actually here in front of me and he was touching me with those unbelievable hands. My eyes fluttered shut as his grip on my waist tightened enough for me to feel his excitement against my belly. I let a small knowing smile creep across my face with the knowledge that I still affected him so. When I could finally find the words to speak, beat me to the punch, as always.  ~Kayla

I jumped into my truck and started the engine, revving it loud enough to make my point. I threw it in reverse and gunned it out of that parking lot. I didn’t need to look in the rear view mirror to know that I had left her standing there, hurt and most likely cryin’, but if you’re gonna try to f**k with the only relationship I had ever wanted, then I was sure as hell goin’ to make you pay for makin’ me lose it.   ~Madison

D’s Review:

This trust of mine is book 2 in the Raine series. It’s a great series, that has a good sense of strong family, love and loyal bonds.

The story picks up where This Love of Mine left off. Madison Raine continues to be book boyfriend worthy. His heart stays true and he’s never afraid to show how he feels.
Both Madison and KJ are both miserable without each other and each have a secret that could break them.  There is a  roller coaster of emotions that pass between these two characters that quite often  I found myself wanting to give Madison and KJ a smack upside the head and tell them to get it together. One minute they are flirty and playful and in the next breath they have flipped a switch and trying to repel each other like the plague. What gives? I suppose the fact that they are teenagers has something to do with it as we have all done the teen years and know the mood swings of a teenager are like a wrecking ball. Throw love in the mix and it’s a complete demolition.
There was one area, that confused me. I’m not well versed on how scholarships and admissions work in US colleges but I would think it is not as easy to change schools while on scholarship, as it was made out to be in This Trust of Mine. It also seemed like there were times Madison should have been at class but he wasn’t.
I really enjoyed how author Amanda Bennett handles the situation regarding KJ’s mother and Wren.  I felt the reactions and feelings KJ exhibited were real and expected. I’m glad it wasn’t “Disney-fied” and made to be like because of the situation, the characters feelings do a one eighty and all is unicorns and butterflies.
There was a point in the book that the mom in me was like no way in heck that would go down and be allowed to happen in my house with my teenage daughter or even son for that matter. And I’m pretty sure those feelings would be shared by many. However, this is a fictional book with fictional characters and this is where reality gets to take a back seat and relax.
Another area of the story which I absolutely loved is how Bennett embraced the story surrounding the Raine family. In particular Madison’s grandfather. She really nurtured this part of the story and left my heart smiling and warm. It’s almost as if family is the core of her stories and the energy of the story that the rest of it builds off of. Madison’s grandfather is such a presence in bot this installment as well as the first in the series. He is strong and formidable but looks out for his family and truly understands the values of love and that the heart sometimes messes up but finds its path when it counts.
There are definitely a couple of big questions that Amanda Bennett left us with and I can’t wait to find out the answers in book #3 which is set to release this summer.
Amanda Bennett is definitely talented and I know she has a lot more to offer in her story telling. I am eager for her to give us the story that leaves us tongue tied for words. I feel it in the what she has given us already and know that ‘it’ story is quietly hiding behind the curtain and ready to make its grand introduction.
This Trust of Mine is a solid read and has heart. Enjoy it!!! D 3.5/5

Brielle De Luca thought she was just an average girl, despite her nightly dreams of an impending apocalypse, along with a gorgeous man that pulls at her soul.

However, on the night of her 18th birthday, everything changes when she is thrown into the Elemental World, a world where she is supposedly the One that is spoken about in an ancient Prophecy; a Prophecy that states she is the key to preventing an apocalypse.

Now she must learn to control her power over the four elements, all while dealing with the love and intense passion of her bond to the man from her dreams, Jace Vasquez.

Piece of cake, right?

The fires surrounding me were blazing – I felt as though my skin was melting from the heat of the flames. The towering buildings in this foreign city were reduced to a pile of steaming cinder and rubble. I stood there immobilized by the destruction around me, powerless to stop it. Horrific winged beasts circled around me in the black sky, like vultures searching for their next meal. In the distance, I could see giants as tall as mountains roaming the city, leaving more destruction in their wake. Somehow, all of that wasn’t as unsettling as when I saw him – those startling eyes, glowing like embers, burning into me with a look of desperation that I still could not comprehend. Why did he stare at me like I was his salvation? Why did he elicit feelings of longing in me like no other? Talons gripped at his shoulders, causing him to thrash and reach in my direction. They dragged him away into the blackness of the night, and his screams penetrated me to my soul.

I woke up to the sounds of my own screaming, my unruly hair plastered to my skull by sweat, and my body racking in sobs at my lack of control. It felt like a memory given the vast number of times I had dreamt this exact scenario; I had been dreaming it for as long as I could remember. What did these dreams mean? Even though they were impossible, their constant recurrence had to signify something. Who was this man, and why did he arouse feelings in me that no other guy had come close to, even though we hadn’t even met? I didn’t even know if he existed, yet something deep down in my being screamed that he did. A part of me chastised myself for thinking something so ridiculous – it was just a dream; he wasn’t real. Even still, another part hoped that he was real, and that one day, I would be able to give him what he so desperately pleaded for.
