Amber to Ashes by Gail McHugh ~NEW REVIEW~

Amber to Ashes by Gail McHugh

Release Date:  June 9th, 2015

My rating: 5++ of 5 stars

I am at a complete loss right now…. GAHHHHHHHH!!!! Gail McHugh, what have you done to me?!?!? Amber to Ashes proves that it doesn’t matter what Gail McHugh writes, it will be PHENOMENAL!!!! I can’t wait for you to read this 5++ Star book!!!! *

How do you write a review for a book that still has you speechless, two weeks after you finished reading it??? Well… I’m going to try my best to articulate just how fabulous Gail McHugh’s new novel, Amber to Ashes is.

I’ve been a fan of Ms. McHugh from the beginning! Gavin Blake from Collide, and Pulse will always be one of my top book boyfriends…Bottle caps anyone!
The characters are fabulous and well-developed — I wouldn’t have expected anything less from Ms. McHugh — and I dare you not to fall in love with Amber, Brock and Ryder. But be warned, Ryder is ALL MINE!

This book will blow your mind; be it the brilliant storyline, the unforgettable characters, the Mind-Blowing sexy scenes *fans self thinking of one particularly wickedly thigh-clenching scene* or the “Oh My Effin’g Goodness, what did I just read??” thoughts that have constantly run through my head since finishing Amber to Ashes. This book is not to be missed!

*If you aren’t a fan of cliffhangers — which is something I personally will never understand — you won’t be happy as Amber to Ashes has one of the most brilliant cliffhangers I have ever read!!!!

I can’t put into words how much I loved Amber to Ashes, and can’t wait to read more when the story continues! This hot, sexy, edgy read is one I won’t soon forget… BRILLIANT!  Nic

Release Date: May 11, 2015

I used to have them—before the nightmares started.
I dreamed of nice guys, love…normalcy.
Things like reading the Sunday paper in bed with my lover.

But who needs dreams when your reality is filled with a string of faceless dominating men in uniform? Men that pack a thick bulge and are only too happy to satisfy my deviant sexual cravings.

Me. That’s who.

And then HE walked through the door and shared with me, a total stranger, his intimate dream of love. Damn him for verbalizing every single detail of the dream I buried long ago.

And now I don’t know how I’m going to live without that dream.
Or him.

Henry’s End Book Trailer:

Excerpt #1:

Holding eye contact with the man, meeting the challenge head on, Henry didn’t flinch. He wanted him to know that he was aware that he was being watched. The energy between the two was sharp and direct. There was no mistaking that contact had been made, and Henry could feel his stomach cramping with excitement, and his balls tightening with desire. This was a man he had dreamed about his whole life. He exuded absolute power. Envisioning him in uniform made Henry inexplicably ache even more.

Definitely a Marine, he thought. A lieutenant? A captain? This man gave orders and expected them to be followed. He commanded. Demanded. And received.

Turning away, Henry made his way through the crowd in search of the bathroom. Mostly he needed his air back and a moment to process what had transpired. He knew that wasn’t all in his head.

The man hadn’t just cruised him.

He’d claimed him.

Heading into the bathroom, the site of an open stall door felt like an immediate godsend and he needed to get behind it, alone. Quickly.

It happened so fast, he wasn’t quite sure how it occurred. Entering the stall, he turned to close the door but was propelled against the metal stall wall to his right, knocking the air out of him. He heard the muffled sound of the stall door latch being locked. The larger man pinned him with his body, his muscular chest pressing Henry flush against the cold metal. The cool smooth surface felt good against his hot, sunburned cheek. Henry could feel the man’s cock pressed against his ass crack on the outside of his bike shorts and wondered if the guy’s cock was still in his pants or not. It wasn’t until that moment that he realized the man had him in a loose choke hold. He didn’t feel fear, and somehow instinctually knew this guy wasn’t going to hurt him. He was establishing his control and position.

With lips next to Henry’s ear, his voice was little more than a growl. “Is that what you want? Little boys? Little boys that will never satisfy you? Is that what you want?” His sizable cock pressed harder against Henry’s ass. With his free hand, the man reached around to the front of Henry’s bike shorts and found exactly what he was looking for – a hard, excited cock. Giving it a squeeze through the slippery material of his bike shorts, Henry hardened immediately to the man’s touch. Continuing to fondle him through the thin fabric, while simultaneously pressing him from behind, the Marine hissed into Henry’s ear, “I asked you a question.”

Brain cells blown away by the physical assault both front and rear, for the life of him, Henry could not remember the man’s question and answered by pressing his junk harder into the guy’s hand, needing to feel possessed by his grasp. He did not disappoint Henry as he squeezed his balls tighter.

“You still want little boys?” he growled, his arm tightening around Henry’s neck.

The moment Henry felt the crook of his arm squeeze his neck, he began to pump himself into the man’s hand, “No. I don’t want little boys.”

“Then what is it you want?” The man had Henry by his cock and was pressing him firmly against his own hard-on, grinding harshly against his ass.

“I want you.”

“Good. And I don’t want you dancing with those boys. Do you understand that?”

Henry nodded his head, yes.

With his hand firmly encasing Henry’s privates, the Marine pressed the smaller man against him and continued to let Henry feel the pressure of his cock against his ass.

Henry leaned his weight back into him, eyes closed. There was nothing in the world except the guy’s hand kneading and pressing his balls. He wanted to stay in the moment forever. Submit to whatever the man wanted from him.

And then he was gone. Leaving Henry against the wall with a raging hard-on and a need to feel the Marine’s hands and cock again, hear his voice, low and raspy, in his ear. Without removing an article of clothing or coming, he had never had a sexual experience that excited him as much, and he knew, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that he would always remember the sublime feeling of being restrained by this man.

He wanted more.

Excerpt #2:

Henry was deeply ensconced in his own head, making resolutions about moving on, not paying attention to his surroundings, or seeing the man, as he approached his car. He was leaning against the hood, his thick muscled arms folded across his chest. Calm, cool, collected, in charge and so damn freaking handsome.

“Your place?” was all he said.

Henry felt the sharp stab in his heart as his adrenal glands shot a release of hormones into his blood stream. Shaking his head no, he was shocked at how cool and calm his voice sounded, when he was anything but, “No. I don’t think so. You haven’t even bought me a drink yet.”

Walking around the big Marine to the driver’s side, Henry hit the remote, unlocking the door.

With a palm to the solar plexus to stop him, “Where are you going?” the Marine asked.

“Home,” Henry was very matter-of-fact.

“I thought you wanted me to buy you a drink?”

Stepping around the Marine, Henry opened the door to his black BMW and got in. “I do…” and he closed the door and started the engine.

Rolling down the window, he added with a smile, “… on Sunday.” Gunning the Beamer’s engine, he left the Marine in the dusty parking lot with a smile on his handsome face.

Well played, Henry congratulated himself. Let him ache for me as much as I’ve been aching for him.

BLACKOUT by Chris Myers~ Review

BlackoutBlackout by Chris Myers

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

good suspense, where I didn’t guess whodunnit until the end.

As always Chris Myers creates characters who you can relate to yet are on the side of creating a great escape in reading. And while her characters are in their late teens or early twenties, I never feel like I’m reading a juvenile book or book that’s over the top where you’re thinking characters of this age would never talk like this or act like that.
The concept of the plot line is perfect. i felt like I was watching a crime drama on TV. It was well plotted where she left enough holes to keep you turning the page but not to the point where you were lost and couldn’t follow what was happening.
Myers’ always develops book boys who will melt your panties and your heart. Dare is no exception. I thoroughly enjoyed his ‘townie’ attitude (bad boy exterior) but his loyalties were true and he definitely made your heart go pitter patter. Her female characters while vulnerable are strong, independent and feisty. I love that they aren’t wishy-washy and whiny. It makes them more attractive. her supporting characters provide a light and humorous side to the story that is usually of a heavy nature.
I have read other works by Myers and she definitely continues to be a favourite of mine.
Blackout is a stand alone book that is worth your time and a one- click.

DIAMONDS by K.A. Linde~ Review and Interview

Diamonds blog tourHey crew,

K.A. Linde has just released the first instalment, DIAMONDS,  in her new series All That Glitters. True to Linde fashion, she keeps us turning the pages with dynamic characters and a hot story line. Check out my review and an exclusive interview with KA Linde. Be sure to enter the giveaway too!!!!

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000038_00071]

Bryna feels his eyes on her.

Hot, seductive, enticing.

He’s at least ten years older than her seventeen years, and he knows exactly what he’s doing to her with that look.

Walking away would be the smart thing to do…

But she can’t. Not that first night when he takes her home and claims her body. Not when he shows up in her life again with expensive gifts to win her trust. Not even when she’s falling for him, and everything else is falling apart…

Find out how Bryna goes from golden girl to gold digger in this tantalizingly scandalous first book in the USA Today bestselling author K.A. Linde’s All That Glitters series.

Diamonds Teaser 2

Diamonds (All that Glitters, #1)Diamonds by K.A. Linde

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Scandalous and delicious.
Oh to be a fly on the wall of KA Linde’s brain. She has this incredible knack for creating characters we both love and hate. This first instalment of the All That Glitters Series is no different.
Bryna, the 17yr old female main character annoyed the heck out of me with her spoiled rich kid ways. Which I’m more than sure was Linde’s intention. Bryna’s attitude and personality were characteristic of a teen girl who wants to have her cake and diamonds too 😉
As always, Linde’s book boys are absolutely dream worthy. Both Gates and Jude bring a heat to the story that keeps you turning the pages. Gates’ young, carefree way if fun, cheeky, arrogant and hot!!! Jude’s controlled, aloof way is alluring, intriguing and smoldering!!!!
I’ve got to mention Pace. This book boy drove me mad trying to figure out his angle. I really hope that Linde builds on his character. I can’t figure out if he’s a shifty douche or knows something we don’t. LOL
The story line is easy to follow and predictable but it keeps you captivated enough that you don’t want to put the book down. KA Linde dangles the proverbial carrot in front of you just enough to keep you chasing the plot.
I’m definitely looking forward to finding out where she takes the series.
Great new series.

Diamonds Teaser 3

Hey crew. We’ve got the lovely and ever entertaining queen of angst back with us for an interview. She’s created some new book boys for us to indulge our book escapes.

Welcome back K.A. Linde. Author of the USA Today best selling Avoiding Series, Record Series, and Take Me Series.

Her new series All That Glitters is sure to draw you in and intrigue you. Diamonds is book #1 and let me tell you… nah, you’ll just have to read for yourself!

Hey Kyla, thanks for coming. Let’s get right down to the nitty gritty.

F&D~How is this series different from all your other ones? How is it similar?

KAL~The world is one of total luxury, glitz, and glamour. The main character is a hard ass, no hold barred kind of chick who will take you on an unexpected journey where there are no limits. But you will see the similar trend of multiple hot guys vying for her attention in different ways and a whole lot of angst!

F&D~What makes these characters so charismatic? I mean Pace is F*n infuriating but I love him.

KAL~I think it’s just the way they’re written. There is no black and white for them. There are glimpses of good and bad in all of them. It’s realistic in that sense. You understand them and yet have no clue what they’re going to do or why they do it. A dichotomy in that aspect. I think you want to love all the guys and yet you still hate them. Bryna is that same way. You love to hate her and hate to love her.

F&D~Who was your favorite character in Diamonds?

KAL~Bryna by far! She’s an awesome kind of chick. She’s young so she has some growing to do, which we’ll see in the next book, but she also is so strong for her age. She takes charge and says whatever she wants. I wish I was a little more like her.

F&D~You seem to always leave us hanging with each installment of your series. What do you think it is that keeps us coming back for… that or we’re just gluttons for punishment?

KAL~Gluttons for punishment! No! LOL I actually think I don’t write cliffhangers. The story is always complete for that installment, but I leave you wanting more. You want to continue on the journey with the characters and find out what else happens to them. I construct them so that they don’t leave your head as soon as you finish the book. You keep thinking about what comes next.

F&D~What did you love most about writing Diamonds?

KAL~I loved the freedom! With Bryna there were no instances where she would say no. She was definitely a yes girl. Thus, I could write anything and it would fit the story. She’s adventurous if you know what I mean. 😉

F&D~When writing, what do you struggle with most as an author?

KAL~The first 20k words. You’re just getting to know your characters and they’re shaping themselves. You have to get to know them and who they are just like you would a friend before I really feel like they come to life.

F&D~So you write contemporary romance with angst and hotness. What genre would you like to step outside of your comfort zone and write? Is there a genre you will avoid at all costs?

KAL~Fantasy! It’s my one true love. I’ve actually written one, The Affiliate, that I hope will come out later this year. It’s a story much like my contemporaries about a girl who has to deal with falling in love and finding herself in this new world. It just happens to be that the world isn’t our own.

Um…I think I probably wouldn’t touch a lot of genres because I don’t read them or know anything about them. Thrillers, horror, nonfiction.

F&D~And totally non-book related… how are the wedding plans coming along?

KAL~Good! The wedding is right around the corner. A lot of little tiny things left to do, but trying not to stress!

Thank you so much for stopping by Kyla. I am so looking forward to Gold.

Crew this is definitely a series you’ll want to one click!!!
