SLAMMER by Tabatha Vargo~ Review

Slammer by Tabatha Vargo
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Tabatha Vargo is known for writing hot alpha males. Slammer is no different. However, she added in a big unexpected. I really enjoyed the suspense and build up to this unexpected moment. Vargo gave us the perfect balance of sexy with intensity and suspense.
I will say she pushes the limits on whether this is a viable/realistic plot line but I like my fiction and the fantasy of what ifs with sexy alpha males. However if you don’t like when reality is pushed too far to “that probably wouldn’t happen” then how Lyla and Christopher get together might not sit well with you.
Vargo does a good job of creating hot chemistry between Lyla and Christopher. There is no denying or overlooking that no matter the premise of their relationship. Both characters personalities and flaws are believable and draw the reader into the book. Christopher aka X is bad to the core but you feel a sense of compassion and hopefulness for him. Layla is independent and feisty but has her vulnerabilities. Again you find yourself being cheerleader for these two.
Overall this was a good read that I really enjoyed. Vargo did a great job with continuity, flow, speed of the story and keeping you in the dark just enough to make you keep turning the pages and not give up in frustration.

Reaper’s Fall by Joanna Wylde ~NEW REVIEW~

RELEASE DATE: November 10th, 2015

He never meant to hurt her.

Levi “Painter” Brooks was nothing before he joined the Reapers motorcycle club. The day he patched in, they became his brothers and his life. All they asked in return was a strong arm and unconditional loyalty—a loyalty that’s tested when he’s caught and sentenced to prison for a crime committed on their behalf.

Melanie Tucker may have had a rough start, but along the way she’s learned to fight for her future. She’s escaped from hell and started a new life, yet every night she dreams of a biker whose touch she can’t forget. It all started out so innocently—just a series of letters to a lonely man in prison. Friendly. Harmless. Safe.

Now Painter Brooks is coming home… and Melanie’s about to learn that there’s no room for innocence in the Reapers MC.

Reaper's Fall (Reapers MC, #5)Reaper’s Fall by Joanna Wylde
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Reaper’s Fall… Oh Joanna Wylde, Thank you for another sexy, heart-in-my-throat MC read! Painter and Melanie’s story was perfect! So much delicious angst!

Once again Joanna Wylde has written an edgy biker story I couldn’t put down. She knows exactly how to write alpha men who steal our hearts. She also never lets us forget who these men are…Dangerous bikers.

We can’t help who we fall in love with, we can only hope that they will love us back, and treat us right. Painter and Melanie’s relationship is definitely a “complicated” one. Difficult from the get-go, I was hoping they would get their acts together. For me, Painter wasn’t as alpha as the other men in the series. But he was definitely sexierOne of my favs

Reaper’s Fall is full packed with angst—will they, won’t they—I honestly didn’t know how things would turn out…Such a rollercoaster of a relationship. But it’s also romantic and sexy. And, it wouldn’t be a Joanna Wylde book if it wasn’t thigh-clenchingly HOT! My Kindle asked for a cigarette

Oh, and the epilogues—yes epilogues—they were the icing on the cake!! LOVED them!

If you love MC reads and you haven’t yet read the Reaper series, you’re missing out. They can be read as standalone books but you will missing out on some amazing characters and stories. Nic

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I’m speechless, having just finished Colleen Hoover’s latest novel, November 9. I’ll admit when I first started November 9, I was hooked but…I wasn’t feeling the feels that I had hoped to. I’ve read enough by this fabulous author to know that they were headed my way, when…BANG…They hit me—hard! Sweet and tender, angsty and gut-wrenching…November 9 was just…WOW!

November 9 is such a unique story with unique characters. Fallon is a character that stole my heart immediately. You would have to be heartless to not feel for this beautiful girl, once you learn her story. And Ben…Ben was swoon-worthy from the get go, but there was something about him that I didn’t sit right, I couldn’t quite put my finger on it until…Until Colleen Hoover hit me with a big-ass gobsmacking shocker!!!! Did NOT see that coming! I honestly thought my heart had been destroyed!

November 9 is one of those reads where you think you have it all figured out, but you never really do… So many WOW moments in this story. And then there’s the feels…OH THE FEELS! My heart went on quite the emotional ride—grab your tissues ladies, I sobbed like a baby—and it was so worth it.

Like Gravity by Julie Johnson ~ NEW REVIEW

Like Gravity by Julie Johnson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

by Brittany

I’ve never been the type of reader that leans toward the hot and heavy reads. I’ve always been one that enjoys the soft quite books. The ones that you don’t necessarily expect, but knock you on your butt once you turn that last page. Like Gravity by Julie Johnson was one of those books. I found this beautiful book by chance. It popped up in my daily Book Bub deals and the blurb instantly intrigued me.

The story is about Brooklyn “Bee” Turner, a college student who at a very young age experienced the life changing tragedy of her mothers murder. Years later, Bee is still deeply affected by this event in her life. It has determined who she is and how she interacts with those around her, that is until Finn Chambers walks into her life. I absolutely adored how the relationship between Bee and Finn developed. It felt natural and real. Never rushed. Johnson built a beautiful friendship between the two before delving into the romantic.

The other thing I loved about Johnson’s writing was that even though Bee had been through insurmountable tragedies in her life, the character never felt like it was painted as a victim. Bee’s strength in the face of tragedies and adversities made her a female protagonist that I wanted to spend my time with. It made me as the reader root for her and hope the best for her. I find that so frequently in today’s literary landscape so many author’s paint women and weak and mild, but that was never the case with Bee. She found the strength in the darkness and it made me love her character all the more for it.

The story is told in first person completely from Bee’s POV, and honestly, it called for that. While it may have been nice to see Finn’s POV from time-to-time, I think it would have detracted from the story which was Bee’s from start to finish. The book is also a standalone, so once you flip that last page you are done. No cliffhangers or surprise sequels.

All-in-all this was an amazing read. Two reasons I deducted a star. First, I had the “twist” figured out about a third of the way through the book. But honestly, in my opinion that fact didn’t affect the beautiful story and writing that came before it. Second, her best friend Lexi drove me insane. I swear there is a rule that writers have that says the BFF has to be superficial and high-strung. I will say Lexi switched around for me at about the halfway mark so she wasn’t a total lost cause.

I loved this book and would 100% recommend it as your next read.

BUTTERFLY DREAMS by A. Meredith Walters~ Review

Hey crew check out my review for Butterfly Dreams by A. Meredith Walters. It’s definitely one that needs to be on your TBR. You can pre-order now on Amazon.
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

There are so many emotions swimming around in my heart and mind with this absolutely fabulous story.
I had no idea about the subject of this story. It hit extremely close to home as a recent event very similar to this rocked my world. All I can say is I absolutely related to Corin’s character. And often when reading Butterfly Dreams had to stop to take a moment because Corin’s feelings and fears mirrored mine.
A. Meredith Walters has this way with her stories and characters that brings you deep into the angst but you can still find your way out and see the love and hope.
Corin and Beckett’s banter was fun. It was cheeky dry humour which you can see coming from individuals facing big fears and trying to cover them up. I enjoyed the build up of their relationship and loved that there wasn’t this insta-love thing going on.
I also appreciated that the characters were independent individuals and not needy or whiny in a way they are often portrayed in stories.
A. Meredith Walters has and will continue to be one of my most favourite authors. She brings real life to fiction without glossing over things or making them too Disneyfied. Walters keeps it real while giving us a good balance of book boy fantasy and romance.
Butterfly Dreams is one of those books that will stick with you. Definitely get this on your TBR

Aspiring singer Iris Easton’s life has never been easy. First, her mother walked out on her when she was a kid. Now she’s buried in debt, weeks after losing her beloved grandmother. When a mysterious and sexy new guy moves in next door, Iris can’t help but be drawn to his soulful gaze. She can tell there’s something from his past haunting him—something he’s not telling her.

Just as Ace starts falling for Iris, the media go on a worldwide hunt to find the missing rocker. Will true love conquer all, or will the truth be the very thing that tears the couple apart?

Wicked White (Wicked White, #1)Wicked White by Michelle A. Valentine
My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars

Michelle A. Valentine has been know to write some panty melting rocker love stories but Wicked White was different from her other stories. This was definitely a sweeter, more endearing romance than her other stories, but it still had the sexiness that I have grown to love, from this author.

I’ve always loved Ms. Valentine’s characters and Ace and Iris two more characters I have fallen in love with. These two troubled souls are beautifully written, and they both buried themselves deep in my heart.

If you love rock star romances but are looking for much more than hot rocker hookup sex, Wicked White is what you are looking for. This mildly angsty romance will tug at your heartstrings, have you eagerly turning the pages with the need to know what happens next then… it will leave you swooning. A perfect read for all you hopeless romantics like me. Nic

All I Want by Jill Shalvis

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

There’s a reason Jill Shalvis is one of my go to authors; her stories are fun and sexy, with a little angst thrown in to shake things up. They always include wonderful characters, and they always leave me with a swoony, happy heart. All I Want was another fab read from this fabulous storyteller. Once I met Zoe and Parker I knew I was hooked!

Zoe, like most all female characters in Ms. Shalvis’ books, is absolutely loveable, and Parker is deliciously manly and all kinds of sweet and sexy. The banter between the characters is hilarious… What is it about first impressions 😉
The characters I love from the Animal Magnetism series make cameos as they have in previous books which, is another reason why I love this series so much…It feels like I’m with friends. And what would this series be without loveable animals, just wait until you meet sweet Oreo <3

All I Want can be read as a standalone but I promise all the books in this series are wonderful.

If you’re looking for a story to grab you, something without a heavy story line but a read that gives you all the feels… All I Want is the perfect amount of funny and sexy romance you are looking for. Nic
