STUCK-UP SUIT by Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward ~ Review

Stuck-Up Suit by Vi Keeland
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Both Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward are new to me authors. And I most definitely will be reading from them again.
STUCK-UP SUIT was such a great read. It was funny, we’re talking giggle snort, laugh out loud while sneaking a read at work, I think I peed a little funny. The Ask Ida banter was hilarious. And to balance out the funny, we had sexy. Cross your legs and squirm, take a cold shower, oh my heck Graham Morgan is hot and that mouth of his, sexy.
I was so engrossed in the story that I came upon the last page before i knew and it was over. *cue violin and sad music* Stuck-Up Suit could have gone on for several chapters more and I still would have kept my nose stuck in between the pages. I absolutely loved this story.
This is definitely a one-clicker. A fun, sexy, story that even has a moment where I wanted to shake the characters into some sense and throw my kindle at them. There were awww moments and romantic moments. And the entire package made for an enjoyable read.

Allana Harrison wanted out. She wanted to escape her painful, broken past and enjoy a fresh start somewhere else. Anywhere else. And while all of the boys in high school and college promised to deliver that dream, only one man actually pulled through.
Now a young adult, Allana finds herself on the opposite side of the world, in a prosperous and rich town that’s not only isolated from her past, but from the crime, grime and hustle of bigger cities, in a country where she doesn’t understand the language or know anybody else except her husband. And that’s how she likes it.
Until she meets Alex, another American who ends up being her only other friend, the one person who reminds her of what it’s like to feel desired, wanted and hungered for.
Except Alex has motives. And Alex has questions — about her husband’s work at the world’s most-advanced, leading-edge power station, questions he wants answered… and when Allana can no longer provide them, Alex threatens to reveal the secrets of their forbidden past, secrets that will destroy the man that saved her.
Caught between two men — one she loves and the other she can’t help but love — Allana must deliberate the role she plays in the moments leading to humankind’s greatest disaster… in 1986.

As the author of the best-selling mystery romance, Surviving Goodbye, Morgan Parker has written several other novels under this pen name. In 2012 and 2013, he self-published Textual Encounters and Textual Encounters: 2, respectively. As a result of the interest in these two stories, he wrote non friction, an unconventional love story. That love story earned Mr. Parker a tremendous amount of attention and at the insistence of his readers, he followed it with Hope (a novella) and Sick Day. All three of those stories have spent time on Amazon best-seller lists.

When not writing, Morgan likes to spend time gathering story material from his two young children, rereading books by Colin Harrison, and napping where he discovered the Type II Sleep State, which is the topic for an untitled trilogy to be released in late-2016.

LOVE and HAPPINESS by Ben Burgess Jr ~ Blog Tour

Love and Happiness is a story about finding the love you are meant to have through heartache, hurt and tough realization. This book is written in four parts and shows the growth and change in characters. There was a good balance of humour and drama. Burgess created characters that you could totally envision in the scenes (Chloe will have you throwing your Kindle). Love and Happiness is about a couple, Chris and Karen believing and trying to force a solid foundation for their marriage only to find it crumbling beneath them. It is Chris and Karen realizing they have to share the same goals and dreams to have that foundation and sometimes you might find it somewhere else.

Title: Love & Happiness
Author: Ben Burgess Jr.
Genre: Adult, Contemporary Romance / African American Fiction

Karen has it all: a handsome husband, beautiful twin daughters, a lovely home and a great job. Karen also has a secret; she’s cheating on her husband, with not one man, but two.

On the outside her life seems perfect, but on the inside Karen feels neglected, bored and unappreciated. Yearning for affection and excitement, she falls into the arms of first Raheem and then Tyrell. Out of fear of losing her husband and breaking up her family, Karen ends the affairs but things don’t turn out how she planned. When Karen’s dirty secrets are revealed she must fight to keep her family together.

Chris is doing all he can to hold his marriage together. He loves Karen but she grows more distant every day. When she starts coming home later and later, he suspects she is being unfaithful. When Chris accidentally takes her cell phone what he finds changes their lives forever.

When tragedy strikes, Karen must decide if she should sacrifice her happiness for her husband’s love, and Chris wonders if he should stay with Karen because he still loves her despite her infidelity. But if they do stay together, will they ever find love and happiness again?

Sexy, and relatable, insightful and inspiring, Love and Happiness shows us both sides of Chris and Karen’s story, and reminds us that sometimes to have it all, you must first lose it all.

Love & Happiness Excerpt © Ben Burgess Jr. 2015

When we got home, I decided to put all our bickering aside and make love to my husband. While Chris pleased me sexually, our busy work schedules had reduced our lovemaking to mundane quickies. I knew if I was bored, he must be too.
To spice things up, I’d read magazines, watched porn, and gathered tips from my friends. He loves lacy lingerie, so I wore my black bustier, black French-cut panties, and fishnet stockings. I lit scented candles and put on soft jazz to set the ambiance in the bedroom. Chris walked in.
“Damn!” he said.
He tugged on my lingerie to take it off. I couldn’t hide my smile. His hands hungrily roamed my body.
“Easy, baby. Enjoy what you’re looking at.”
I felt self-conscious as he groped me because his earlier comment about me looking chunky, kept replaying in my mind.
We made love. I used a lot of the new ideas I learned to spice things up, but he didn’t seem to notice. Chris always has the decency to make sure I cum, but again we ended up having another quickie because he had to wake up early the next morning. He rolled over on his side and went to sleep almost immediately after. I frowned, shook my head and stared at the ceiling. Was it me? Is this how marriage was supposed to be? Had we both gotten too comfortable?
I decided I’d start going to the gym and get a personal trainer. I hoped working with a trainer would change me enough that even Chris would have to say something positive about it. I didn’t imagine how much it would change me.

HUSH by E.K. Blair~ Early Review

I absolutely love the grit and the boundaries that E.K. Blair pushes with this series!

Book #3 in the Black Lotus Series.

I’ve come to learn there is no escaping your past.

It doesn’t matter what you do, it will follow like a phantom–haunting you–reminding you.

**Due to the dark and explicit nature of this book, it is recommended for mature audiences only as some scenes may be particularly disturbing.**

Well EK, you continue to blow my mind. The final instalment of the Black Lotus Series, HUSH, was absolutely what it should be… Intense, passionate, evil, deceitful, mesmerizing, sexy, disturbing, suspenseful… an incredible mind bending ride of irrational, untraditional, uninhibited love.
EK Blair doesn’t hold back and her characters need her to lay it all out there. Be damned the hearts and flowers, she kisses, teases and seduces her readers with the smoking gun and raw, animalistic passion.
In this final instalment, EK Blair continues to paint a canvas of sharp, jagged strokes that is Elizabeth. She is such a complex character trying to navigate through even more complex ideals she has about love, relationships, and people. She swirls the palate with Declan’s own need for control creating a masterpiece of bold, unrefined beauty.
Blair mixes dirty, ugly with stunning poetic prose to create a story that makes you cringe with the fact that stripped of everything, this story is a true love st12821588_792226334255820_4984990159099219433_nory. It’s like wading through the mud to find the beautiful lotus flower. And at the heart of this flower coming out of the murky dark, is true beauty and purity. So when you strip away the story and see the characters amidst the murkiness of their flaws and circumstance, you see the purity of love. We all covet love and often that will make us do many unnatural or natural depending how you see it, things.
Hush and the rest of the Black Lotus Series is thrilling and exhilarating. There are no boundaries. So if you are ready and willing to forego convention, tradition and ingrained opinion one click Hush.
