After a series of catastrophic misunderstandings and impulsively poor decision-making, Scarlett MacGregor finds herself once again torn between two loves, as different as they may be. Lacking proper closure with their relationship, accompanied by the overwhelming guilt for her role in his devastating downfall, Scarlett resolves to help Mason recover and reclaim his life as a budding rock star. However, now that he has finally claimed her as his, Ash Walker is bound and determined to keep her by his side, and he will go to any lengths necessary to do just that.
Mason Templeton has hit rock bottom. He’s in love with a girl whose heart and soul belong to another and he’s partied his way off of an international music tour that was supposed to be his big break. Returning home for rehab sounds like the worst possible way to start a new year, but when an unexpected friendship emerges, he begins to realize that maybe everything does happen for a reason.
Euphoria is the third and final installment of Scarlett, Ash, and Mason’s self-discovering journeys to happiness and understanding the meaning of true love ~ the kind that begs for complete surrender
Recommended for readers 17+ due to sexual content and harsh language.
Embracing her one last time, I whispered in her ear, “I love you, butterfly… ‘your curves and all your edges, and all your perfect imperfections.’ I’ll see you tomorrow night.”
“I love you, too, Ash. ‘You’re my end and my beginning; even when I lose, I’m winning,’” she whispered back. Then she grabbed her bag and headed for the security check point.
Right before turning the corner where I couldn’t see her anymore, she looked back at me and blew me a kiss and made hand hearts. Damn, she was beautiful. I stood there for several minutes with a goofy ass grin on my face. I wasn’t expecting her to sing the next lyrics of the song to me, but it filled me with an indescribable feeling of warmth and love. ~Ash
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
‘You’re my end and my beginning; even when I lose, I’m winning.’
So this is the 3rd book in the series and continues to evolve and change Scarlett, Mason and Ash’s relationship. And evolve it did. Individually these characters really grew and found things within themselves they didn’t know they could achieve or have. They found they could do things for themselves and still be happy.
In the first book Metamorphosis, the story line was fun and young. Which is exactly the way it should have been since Scarlett had led such a sheltered life before coming to college. In Ambrosia, we see Scarlett try to deal with more adult problems on her own and with the help of her friends. She is desperately trying to find her way. And now in Euphoria, we see Scarlett standing on her own feet and making decisions for her, not making them to please others. We see her deal with tough things life throws at her and accept that she can’t control everything like her parents tried to do with her for so many years.
I also really liked how author Erin Noelle show growth in Mason and Ash. I like how the book wasn’t entirely a pissing contest between these guys. Noelle really tried to develop the story into something more mature and show the growth and changes between all the characters both individually and through their interrelationships. The chapter that has a major event was so symbolic, at least for me, in that it was almost as if things came full circle. It’s as if all three characters had this light bulb moment of true understanding of how they could show their love and show how their love changed with time. The last couple of lines to this chapter really rooted itself into my heart. Love isn’t just about the now—it’s everlasting. Love is always in the how. You can’t just go through the motions and expect it to mean something. You really do have to find your personal Euphoria to make love count. And you just might make “Let Her Go” by Passenger your new favorite song.
I have to get this off my chest now cuz I know there are haters out there…
So this book is a triangle of sorts. And yes there are those that are Team Mason and those that are Team Ash. Regardless of which team you are on, this book ended the way it was supposed to end. Things happened they were supposed to happen. How can that be?—because it’s a bloody work of fiction for one!!!!! You didn’t write this book for another!!! And until you start writing your own book, you will never understand the process of how a story comes to be or how an ending comes to be. Often authors think they have a very distinct path for a story but the characters change that path. I kid you not. I am currently in the writing process myself and I literally had a fight with one of my characters that wanted to do something and I didn’t see it happening that way. Well guess who won? The character.
The ending may very well piss a lot of people off. And I don’t think she settled or gave in to second best. She loved both Mason and Ash equally- for very different reasons but with all her heart. No matter who she ended up with, her heart would always want the other one too. Sometimes your heart doesn’t give you the luxury of loving only one person.
I understand we are all allowed to have our own opinion of a book. I understand we all have an idea of how a book should end or what should happen to various characters. But don’t hate!!! A story is as much an author’s journey as it is a character’s or readers. AND NUMBER ONE – THIS IS FICTION NOT REAL LIFE. GET OVER IT ALREADY!!!
Euphoria is not about Team Mason or Team Ash or who ultimately gets the girl. Euphoria and this whole series is about love, how love changes, how love changes people, how love makes you selfish, how love makes you unselfish, how love destroys you and how love makes you live.
Enjoy the read, don’t get caught up in the little things.
