Our first feature Friday!!! We are featuring new author Molly McAdams. She’s just come out with her first full length novel, Taking Chances. Here at Flirty and Dirty have come to the consensus that she is going to tear it up in the literary world! Her first book falls under the New Adult/Contemporary genre. Taking Chances will take you on an emotional roller coaster that leaves you breathless and wanting.
Synopsis: Eighteen year old Harper has grown up under her career Marine of a father’s thumb. Ready to live life her own way and experience things she’s only ever heard of from the jarheads in her father’s unit; she’s on her way to college at San Diego State University.
Thanks to her new roommate, Harper is introduced to a world of parties, gorgeous guys, family and emotions. Some she wasn’t expecting yet, and others she never knew she was missing.
She finds herself being torn in two as she quickly falls in love with her boyfriend Brandon, and her roommate’s brother Chase. Covered in tattoos, known for fighting in the Underground and ridiculously muscled…they’re exactly what she was always warned to stay away from, but just what she needs. Despite their dangerous looks and histories, both adore and would do anything for Harper, including stepping back if it means she’s happy.
Her first year away is turning out to be near perfect, but one weekend of giving in to heated passion will change everything.
Taking Chances is now available on both Amazon.com and Barnesandnoble.com
Molly took some time to give Flirty and Dirty an interview— Here’s how it went down!
F and D: How did you come up with the story line for Taking Chances? At times it got pretty heavy so is this from personal experience?
MM: I had a dream -where Harper and Chase are fighting before they are together for the first time, up through when Harper leaves Brandon for Chase- all came from my dream.
The “Chase Scene” was not in the original plan at all….it just came up out of no where, even for me.
F and D: we know your next book is also going to be a new adult/contemporary… is this the genre you see yourself doing or do you think you might try others?
MM:I see it as being my main genre, it’s what I’m comfortable with -even though I feel like I’m still trying to fully figure the genre out (I feel like in Taking Chances, I glossed over a lot of…ahem…scenes and in From Ashes I don’t as much) BUT I do have two books that are in different stages of completion that seem to be heading into the adult genre.
F and D: Did you model the characters in Taking Chances after any specific people in your life?
MM:Not really, Chase and Brandon came straight from my dream…and Bree I just made to be what I thought every girl needed in a best friend/sister. Harper is just her own person, I really had this visual of how she was going to be, and she didn’t turn out that way at all!
F and D: We felt the characters were well developed and we could really visualize who they were.
MM: Thank you so much! I had a lot of fun getting into their heads.
F and D: Who are some of your favourite authors??
MM: Nicholas Sparks (yeah…I know..I’m one of those girls.) I love A.L. Jackson, Abbi Glines
F and D: Do you like the HOT romances or are you more of a contemp girl?
MM: Ooooh man. I go back and forth, sometimes I just want a contemporary romance, other times I’m looking for something super steamy and kinky.
F and D: Our kinda girl….. flirty and dirty!
F and D: Can you tell us a little bit about your next book?
MM: From Ashes is about a girl Cassidy, whom after her father passed when she was young, has been continuously beaten by her mother and stepfather until her best friend Tyler takes her away with him to college. She meets and instantly falls in love with his cousin, their new roommate ,Gage. But Tyler does everything to keep them away from each other. From Ashes is their journey of coming together as well as Cassidy finding beauty in the dark from her past.
F and D: do we have a release date? We’re getting impatient to read your next book!
MM: Hahaha! I’m releasing it December 1st.
F and D: EEEEEPPPPP!!!!! We will definitely be all over that!
F and D: Does music influence your writing?? What are you listening to and what are you reading right now?
MM: Taking Chances had a lot of Coheed and Cambria, Hinder, Anberlin and Paramore….From Ashes has a LOT of country. Right now, I’m actually listening to Anberlin and reading Captive in the Dark.
Thank you so much Molly for taking the time to chat with us!!!!!! We can’t wait for From Ashes!
