Forgetting August by J.L. Berg
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a really good read. The author did a good job of keeping the reading interested and invested. I enjoyed the back and forth and the push and pull between August and Everly.
The suspense side of the story is my favourite part- mores than the romance. I wanted to find out so badly what had happened to August. There is also a subtle, but I’m sure it’ll make a noise in the next book, storyline involving Everly’s best friend Sarah. I’m really curious about what’s going on there and I think it is tied to August– except that I’m purely speculating cuz it is that subtle and really could be nothing of significance.
What stops this from being a 5 star read for me is that when the author is in August’s POV (dual POV), there were a several times I could tell it was a woman writing his voice. When I read a male POV in a book, I want it to be male. There were certain things that I just couldn’t picture a guy saying– at all.
However, aside from this, the characters were well developed and the story flowed well.
I’m looking forward to the second instalment to this series. I need more answers.
D 4/5
