Hey crew we are today’s stop on the CC Brown Blog Tour. Be sure to check out my review and enter the give-away!!!
Sometimes rules must be broken.
Sometimes your beliefs are challenged.
Other times… you just have to follow your heart.
For Marine Corps Sgt. Alex Cruz, the Corps’ rules and regulations have served as a blueprint for how he should live his life. In his mind, the way to maintaining proper conduct and order relied heavily on the ability of the individual to follow orders without question. Alex was that individual.
Pfc. Cassie Bennett.
She is brand new to the Corps, looking to cement a place in the world for herself after breaking free from the oppressive life she’s lived with her mother. Making it in the Corps is her way of showing her mother that she is more than she thinks she is, while also proving to herself she can survive one of life’s biggest challenges.
Both Alex and Cassie are tested when an intensely strong attraction develops between them. They feel it, they want it, but one thing stands in their way… The Marine Corps order on Fraternizing. Their lust filled thoughts, their strong and aching cravings for one another, and their conflicted minds lead them on a roller coaster of emotions and feelings that neither can ignore, no matter how hard they try.
Loyalties will be tested, hearts will be broken, and careers will hang in the balance. Can Alex and Cassie keep their forbidden relationship a secret, or will they lose it all by Fraternizing?
Sgt. Alex Cruz is all kinds of alpha male hotness!!!
Intense. Hot. Sexy. Passionate. Strong. Beautiful. This isn’t just to describe Sgt. Alex Cruz either. Fraternizing by C.C. Brown is all this and more. She had me turning the pages non-stop from start to finish. I loved the different military personalities she portrayed through Cruz, Jenson, Dalton, Newsome, Ruiz, Bennett and Castillo and Riley. What C.C. Brown did was create a fictional dynamic that gave us a small glimpse of military life and how tightly their honor and code are woven into their everyday life.
The sexual tension between Bennett and Cruz was hot. Even the smallest gestures were enough to make you hope like crazy the two of them could find a way to be together.
I really enjoyed how Brown dealt with the whole idea of fighting for your heart over fighting for a life that your heart has only known. It definitely takes a special person to devote their life to the military. The line is a precarious and delicate one that most of us would have a very difficult time staying on the one side.
Alex’s character although alpha male in all outward appearances was incredibly sexy and a little insecure. The little things and the not so little things 😉 made him very desirable. I know some people, especially those in the military may or may not care for Cruz as he was a rule breaker and therefore disrespectful to his honor as a marine but as a fictional character he was good in all the right places and bad in all the right places.
Cassie Bennett’s character was a great female lead. I love that she was in the military as well and not a groupie. Brown did a great job of making her strong , resilient and not the stereotypical military woman. I also enjoyed how she wrote in the competitiveness between Bennett and Ruiz. It made for some good between character conflict.
Overall this story was a fabulous read. Brown’s research into military life was definitely apparent through the military vocabulary right down to the dynamics between ranks. For most of the story, I was completely immersed in the story. There were a couple of little bits in the story that I felt repeated itself maybe a once or twice too many but I understand the level of intensity C.C. Brown was trying to achieve. And yes the intensity was definitely there. I know there is buzz that this book lands on a cliffhanger. Here’s my take on this. One—it’s not a big cliffie. It’s one I’m pretty sure y’all can live with as book one ended where it should have and didn’t necessarily leave you guessing on a real big question. Two—Brown is writing the next book. Three—it’s a fictional piece of work I’m pretty sure we’ll live while we have to wait for book #2.
So bottom line—is it worth the one-click? OH HECK YEAH!!!! Get on it!!! D 4/5
Just a book reading, writing loving, mommy and USMC wife! 🙂
I love to write, even if it isn’t what is conventional and makes everyone feel giddy inside. I usually pull from dreams, or ideas that just thrust themselves into my head. I have what some would describe as a dry sense of humor, and I think its conveyed in my writing. I like to think I am a kick ass chick, but I can also be sensitive. I’m learning to grow thick skin, and in this field, it is definitely needed!
I won’t put anything out that I am not absolutely proud of, but like E.L. James said, “I can’t own people’s reactions to it.” Thanks for reading my work… I do appreciate it!
