OH EM GEEEEE…. Why have I not read Geoducks Are For Lovers sooner!! Sadly I’m now left with a book hangover because I wasn’t ready to let this beautiful story or its brilliant characters go. 🙁
I started Geoducks Are For Lovers by Daisy Prescott last night. I’ve had a hard time reading lately, nothing has grabbed my attention – that is until now. I couldn’t put this book down. Brilliant characters, witty banter and a beautiful love story set in a part of the Pacific Northwest – Whitby Island, Washington – that is special to me… I was in book heaven!
One thing that drew me in right away was the age of the characters. FINALLY a book about 40-somethings that doesn’t make us look over the hill or with one foot in the grave, just a group of old friends getting together for a weekend. I can relate to this group as I have a similar relationship with my old friends.
You will fall in love with all of the characters in this story. Maggie the nurturer, looks after everyone else’s needs but hides away from life when it comes to figuring out her own. Selah the best friend who calls you out on your crap but love you until the end. Quinn, every girl needs the unconditional love of a best friend like Quinn. John, the mysterious hot neighbour who keeps life interesting. And then there’s Gil *fans self* Oh Professor, how I love thee <3
Geoducks Are For Lovers will have you laughing with old friends, proving that no matter how old we are – age is just a number. Anyone up for a game of dirty scrabble 😉 No matter how much time passes, those who you once held dear in your life, will still be just as dear years later. It will also have you full of angsty butterflies as you fall completely in love, unsure of what will happen next. I want to go hunting for wishing rocks now.
But, when all is said and done, this incredible feel good story will leave your heart so full. If you haven’t yet read it, Geoducks Are For Lovers should be your next read <3 Nic
