~Broken By J.B. McGee~ BLOG TOUR

Flirty and Dirty Book Blog is so excited to have author J.B. McGee stop by during her Blog Tour for Broken.

Hello J.B. and welcome!  We are so happy to have you here J We absolutely loved Broken and can’t wait for its sequel, Mending to release!

I am so glad you liked Broken and appreciate your support!!  Thank you for hosting a stop on my blog tour and embracing me into the your community.

What inspired the story of Broken?  Was the story based on actual events?

I just had a story in my head after reading several other popular novels.  There are some “events” that are extremely loosely based on things that happened in my life.  I also love music.  It’s in my genes.  So, a lot of the book was inspired by the songs I would listen to as I wrote.  Something would just touch me and I’d jot down how I could incorporate the story of the song into the book.

Were the characters of Gabby and Bradley based on any one particular?

No.  I looked at several celebrity pictures and pulled different features from different people to create my own imaginary friends.  Personality wise, they just evolved in my head as I wrote.  There is no real life Bradley or Gabby in my life (at least, that I know of).

What can we expect from Mending??

Mending is going to pick up where Broken left off, except what had been the present in Broken is now the past in Mending.  Don’t worry, I have everything labeled.  Time will be very important in Mending.  You’ll see lots of dates and times.  Pay attention to these.

It’s still written in 3rd person omniscient, but I did take reader’s feedback into consideration and labeled the changes of POV for you.  Mending has a lot from Bradley’s point of view because you really didn’t get a chance to know him well in Broken.  I was very limited as to what I told you about him on purpose.

Broken was about Gabby and why she is so hesitant to commit to Bradley.  It’s not just the whole Ian thing, either.  It’s so much deeper than that.  She’s been through so much.  It seems like everyone she loves leaves her, except her rock, Sam.

Mending is really more about Bradley.  You learn a lot about his past and why he is the way that he is regarding commitment.

You will also get more information about John, Ian and Lindsey.  I purposely left those characters obscure in Broken.  There are also several new characters in Mending.  These new characters won’t have huge roles in Mending, but will have more influential roles in the third book, Forgiven.

If Broken was made into a movie who would be your dream cast?

This is such a hard question for Bradley.  I keep changing my mind.  I love Nir Lavi, an Israeli model.  But, I also love Andrew Stetson, a Canadian model.  Those would be my top two guys for looks.  I have no clue if they can act.  If I had to pick an actor, I think Colin Egglesfield would be my top pick.

For Gabby, this is pretty easy.  Lucy Hale would be my pick.  Her eyes are perfect for Gabby.  She’d just have to pack on some pounds to be a size ten.  J

Do you have a soundtrack for Broken?

I do, it’s on Spotify! J  This: Broken Soundtrack is the name of it, although it’s become more of just a soundtrack for the trilogy in general.  You can subscribe to the playlist.  There’s a link on my website: www.jbmcgee.com/music.html

You will not find me writing WITHOUT ear plugs in my ear listening to music.

Enchanted by Taylor Swift, Blue Bird and Jar of Hearts by Christina Perri, Falling Slowly from Once, these are all songs that strongly influenced Broken.  When I’m stumped, I just listen to my playlist over and over until the juices start to flow.

My late grandfather had a band.  My mom sang in it, he played the drums, and sometimes I’d play my clarinet and sing with my mom.  I was only in high school, so that was pretty cool.  Music is so calming to me.  It clears my head of everything else in the world, a place respite. I get lost in it.

So, music quickly became very influential in my writing.  I also love The Strange Familiar.  We follow each other on Twitter and they have been incredibly supportive allowing us to use their song Falling Back to You in my official trailer.  That song will show up in Mending. 😉

What are you currently reading right now??

Strangely enough, I’m reading Broken by Megan Hart.  A friend bought it for me and told me I had to read it because she said our writing styles were similar.  She also thought I would be able to relate to the book.

When you aren’t writing fabulous love stories, what do you like to do?

Awe. *bows head humbly and blushes* Thank you.

I haven’t had much time lately to do anything other than read, write, and promote Broken.  I love hanging out with my family, my fans and new friends (on Facebook), and doing graphic design.  I am also constantly brainstorming new ideas for future books.  I’m a pretty hyper person. I don’t sit still well.  🙂

Thank you J.B. McGee for taking the time to stop by Flirty and Dirty Book Blog 🙂 We look forward to reading Mending and seeing you again really soon!!

Thank you so much for having me.  I really enjoyed the interview!

REVIEW ~ Broken by J.B. McGee

I have had Broken by J.B. McGee downloaded for some time but, didn’t have a chance to read it until recently.  How I wish I had only know what I was missing out on.

J.B. McGee has written a beautiful and heartwarming story about fate and taking chances, and the battle to overcome heartache while learning to trust in your heart again.  J.B. has taken her time developing the story, not rushing the important moments, making me feel like I was actually caught up in the moment.

I ardor the characters of Broken, Gabby is beautiful and full life but there is always something holding her back from being the person, she knows in her heart, she wants to be.  Bradley has never experienced anything like this in his life before, is he really ready for it?

What I really enjoyed about Broken was that I experienced so many emotions while reading this story but yet, by the end of this first novel my heart was left feeling full of love and hope.

Looking for a for a feel good love story that will toy with your emotions, make your pulse race and leave you wanting more, Broken is your next read.  I can’t wait for Mending, the second novel in this series to be released.  <3  N. 4/5

J.B. McGee was born and raised in Aiken, South Carolina. After graduating from South Aiken High School, she toured Europe as a member of the 1999 International Bands of America Tour, playing the clairnet. While attending Converse College, an all girls school in Spartanburg, South Carolina, she visited Charleston often. It quickly became one of her favorite vacation spots.

She met her husband, Chad, during Christmas break her freshman year, and they married in 2001 and she moved back to her home town. In 2005, the couple welcomed their first son, Noah. J.B. finished her Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education at the University of South Carolina-Aiken in 2006. During her time studying children’s literature, a professor had encouraged her to become a writer.

In 2007, she welcomed their second child, Jonah, and she became a stay at home mom/entrepreneur. In 2009, the found out their two children and J.B. have Mitochondrial Disease. In 2011, a diagnosis also was given to Chad. Please take a moment and learn more about Mitochondrial Disease. Awareness is key to this disease that has no cure or treatments.
J.B. McGee and her family now reside in Buford, Georgia, to be closer to their children’s medical team. After a passion for reading had been re-ignited, J.B. decided to finally give writing a shot. Broken (This Series), is her first book and first series.
Now a Teaser from Mending
“You come dry if I’m gonna wash.” He tossed the towel back to her. “Seriously. Most people who have that kind of connection don’t say hey, let’s just be friends and see where it goes.”“Well, I’m not most people for starters.” She walked around the bar to

where she was beside him. “I’m really not in the market to get hurt again.”“Me neither, but you can’t stop feeling or pretend that the feelings aren’t there to avoid it.” He handed her the plate he’d just washed. “You clearly are head over heels for him.”

She looked up to him with big hazel eyes. Her brows furrowed. She put the plate down and backed up to the bar putting her head in her hands. “I know, but there’s more than just my hurt over Ian and Lindsey.”

“So, don’t you think I should sort that out before I jump into this.”

“Honestly, no. I think you’re using that as an excuse.”

“We’ll see. I’m going to start seeing a therapist in a couple of weeks.”

He finished the dishes and turned to her. “Well, I gotta go. The guys wanted to go out tonight before things get crazy this semester.” He pulled Gabby into a big brother style hug. “I think that if you meet him Wednesday, you should greet him with a great big kiss.”

She jabbed her fist into his chest and growled, “Grrr. You are such a…”

He grabbed her wrist. “A good friend who is telling you that you deserve to be happy?” Smiling as he raised his eyebrow. “Anyway, you’re wound so tight from having not gotten any lovin’ since Ian that you are like a spinning top waiting to be released?”

She shook her head as she narrowed her eyes. “Ugh, your head is always in the gutter. Just skadoodle.”

“Hey, you asked for my advice and here it is.” He winked. “Careful what you ask for baby girl.”

“Seriously, I do appreciate it. You always speak your, hmmm…” She looked at his head and then down and back up again. “Your mind.” She busted out laughing. “I just haven’t figured out which is which yet.”

“What can I say?” He laughed. “Do tell him that if he hurts you, I’ll only be so happy to kick his ass.”

Gabby looked up to him with a proud smile. “Hey, Bradley! My faux big bro is gonna kick your ass if you hurt her.” She giggled. “Yep, perfect way to start a relationship.”

“I’m serious. You can tell him or I’ll tell him when I meet him.” He leaned over and kissed her on the head. “I’m outta here.”

“Thanks for the pizza.”

He winked as he walked out the door. “Anytime.”
