Our blog buddies Davetta and Naomi who make up the other half of D2N2 have a new review for us LICK (Stage Dive #1) by Kylie Scott. Check out what they have to say…
new cover under St.Martin’s publishing
Waking up in Vegas was never meant to be like this.
Evelyn Thomas’s plans for celebrating her twenty-first birthday in Las Vegas were big. Huge. But she sure never meant to wake up on the bathroom floor with a hangover to rival the black plague, a very attractive half-naked tattooed man in her room, and a diamond on her finger large enough to scare King Kong. Now if she could just remember how it all happened.
One thing is certain, being married to one of the hottest rock stars on the planet is sure to be a wild ride.
Hi Peeps it is us Book Besties back again with another joint review thanks to the wonderful ladies at Flirty and Dirty. I think we will be doing more so we sure hope you like em! So here is our review of LICK by Kylie Scott
Hey Davetta so lets just get stuck straight in on these rockers. What did you think of LICK straight from the get go?
Hi BB well I have to say this book had me from the VERY beginning, because I kinda felt it started the book with what would normally be the end. Ev waking up and already married the hot a*s rockstar the book is about. What a great way to tip it on its head from page one. From then on the story just had a bit of everything it was just funny and sex.
So what were your thought Naomi what did you think about it from the start??
Well BB I would have to agree with all that you have said above. I am actually just gutted that I waited so long to read it as I just enjoyed it so much. I started reading late in the evening and I literally couldn’t put it down, it was one of those iPad hitting me in the chops because I fell asleep moments. I loved how this story is just different to the other rocker stories and it does all kind of go back to front but in a great way.
So Davetta the important question… What did you think of David our hot rocker and our leading lady Ev?
Well to be honest I just kept hoping that they would stop dancing around each other pull their heads out of their rears and just go for it. I was most definatly not disappointed. Although they get to know each other on the fast track it worked for this story. They played games to get to know each other and I just found that so cute! I like how much you saw Evelyn come out of her shell in this story and really hold her own that was good. There was a few moments there that I felt like David was really letting me down but he redeemed himself along the way.
What did you think of the hot rock god and little ol’ Ev Naomi??
Well Davetta you know how we love our rock gods! Lol! I have to say that I took to David straight away and the moment It all went down in Vegas I prayed he would live up to what I hoped he would be. I have to say like you he wobbled a little throughout and I llost my patience with him a couple of times but hey HE IS a rock god therefore all must be forgiven! 😉 As for Ev I loved her and her total honesty throughout this book. She was brave when she needed to be. I also loved that she was real with a curvy figure with lumps and bumps, we all love a real girl in our books.
Okay so as always our joint opinion on this book?
This book was just very well written in our opinion and one of the reasons being how we could relate to the characters and certain situations they found themselves in with family and friends. Obviously waking up married to a Rock Star isn’t one of those (except in our dreams maybe hey BB!), but the relationships within this story where portrayed so well.
We both felt that this story didn’t just cover two people falling in love . It also showed us how much life and the people in it can interfere with the things we truly desire. The complexity of living someone else dreams to make someone other than yourself happy and we are sure there are a lot of us out there that can relate to that at some point or another.
We also loved the friendships within this story and thought they were were great. When we were discussing the story together Mal came up more than once. Mal is David’s friend and a band member but once you have read this book you will understand why we loved him, and the good news is people that his book is next!
So all in all we both agree that this book was UNPUTDOWNABLE once we picked it up. If you like a good Rock band story then this book is for you.
So now for our ratings…
drum roll please…
Davetta – 4/5 Rocking Vegas stars this book is an easy read with a sexy twist.
Naomi – 5/5 Tattooed rocking stars as this book just had me hook line and sinker.
