I’ve been a fan of Alessandra Torre since I first picked up Sex Love Repeat and gobbled it down like I hadn’t read a great book ever in my life. The characters were rich and complex, and the writing style had a flow like none I had ever read before. It made me an instant fan so I quickly grabbed every book she had written up to that point. Now if you’ve read her books before, you know she’s the queen of the twist. Torre has this uncanny knack for writing a plot twist that knocks you straight on your ass.
What I have loved though is that with her last two books she’s started down this fun flirty road that I am in total love with. They’ve been funny and light without losing any of her razor sharp writing that I’ve come to know and love. It’s truly made me a bigger fan of hers than I already was.
Love, Chloe was just amazing from start to finish. It tells the story of Chloe, a trust fund baby who after her banker father commits a crime loses all of her wealth and is forced to get a nine to five and finally enter the real world. The book follows Chloe as she traverses her way through this new world and through the new relationships she gains along the way.
I was instantly in love with Chloe from the moment I met her. She felt so real to me as a character which is a testament to Torre’s writing. She’s smart, funny, clumsy, witty, sexy and all of the other amazing things you look for in a lead.
Another thing that was fantastic about this book was the relationships she had with the men in her life, Carter and Vic. Each played an intricate role in Chloe’s life and only helped to make the story all that more rich and complex while reading it.
Finally, the cast of supporting characters were fantastic. From her bitchy new boss to her best friends from her days with money, each added a layer to the story that only made it that much better. There is not a single moment throughout Love, Chloe where a character or moment is wasted.
I literally could not put this book down, and let me tell you that it’s been a while since I’ve felt that way when reading a book. I’ve been bouncing from book to book just looking for that one that would finally pull me out of my slump, and I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt I found it with Love, Chloe.
This for sure will be one of my favorites from this year. 5 stars.
