Ohhhhh.Myyyyyyy.Effffffing.Geeeeeee!!! What an incredible journey this has been! Holy FREAKIN’ ANGSTFEST!!!
****SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT! ~~~WARNING THIS REVIEW CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS!~~~****
So you all know, this is the very first review I have ever written to contain spoilers. I always write spoiler free reviews but I couldn’t review Avoiding Temptation without mentioning spoilers.
I can wholeheartedly say that Avoiding Temptation was everything I had hoped it would be. I remember finishing Avoiding Responsibility a year ago and thinking there is no way I can wait to see what happens next! So worth the wait! So much angst, my heart was in my throat so many times wondering what would happen next. K.A. Linde messed with my head as I wasn’t sure who was going to end up together in the end.
Avoiding Commitment was one of the very first indie books I read and I was completely taken with the story and characters. Many of us can remember what it was like to be young and in love, putting up with crap we would never consider years later. It is no secret that I am a huge Jack fan, I knew a few Jacks in my early adult life and I even dated one for a while. So maybe that’s why I always felt the connection between Jack and Lexi and felt they belonged together. As much as I give my Peppermint Posse sisters heck for loving Ramsey I admit I loved him too in Avoiding Temptation and my heart hurt for him. In a love triangle there is always someone left with a broken heart and sadly this time it was Ramsey. I thought K.A. Linde did an amazing job of showing how Jack had grown. He tried to do right by Bekah, he always loved Lexi but Bekah was his wife. He loved her and tried to make it work proving he had grown. Lexi never fully trusted Ramsey, that was apparent so many times during the course of the series, and that’s why she could never fully give him her heart. People change and in Avoiding Temptation Jack and Lexi both finally grew up, that’s how they were finally able to really see each other. Some might say Jack and Lexi together was the easy way out but I would disagree. To show the growth in the characters and make it believable is not an easy task.
Avoiding Temptation was a fabulous end to one of my favourite series. It’s been one hell of an incredible emotional roller coaster and I am so glad I didn’t miss out! Nic
