I grew up in a really small town in Missouri. Very similar to the fictional town I wrote about in my novel. I moved to the big city right after I graduated. I work full-time and I am mom to a beautiful little girl. I started writing in October when a group I am in had a prologue contest. I didn’t win the contest, but everyone who read my prologue asked for more of my story. I decided I had to finish it and get these characters that were in my head out on paper. During the writing process it became clear that this was going to be more than one novel. It had to be a series. I have at least 2 more novels planned for the Destined Series. I also have an idea for a YA novel that stems from one of the characters in Destined to Change…hint, hint. When I was asked to write this bio I explained that I am really boring and it would be really short…so, that’s about all there is to know about me. I love music and honestly couldn’t have written this book without my Spotify playlist. I am kinda obsessed with frogs (not real ones) and office supplies are my downfall! I could spend my whole paycheck at the stationery store…boring, didn’t I already say that? lol Also, I am slightly addicted to Facebook and Voxer. Please message me on either one…I would love to hear from all of you.

Flirty and Dirty Book Blog’s Interview with Author Lisa M. Harley

I absolutely love the Destined Series, what was your inspiration behind this series?

First of all, thanks! So glad you love it. Honestly, Declan’s story has been in my head since I was a teenager, but I never really thought about writing it down. I didn’t plan on being an author, it just kinda happened. Once I started writing Destined to Change I realized how much I loved writing and that I had more stories I wanted to tell. I hadn’t planned on writing a series, but when DTC came out I got so many messages about Cade. Everyone was really interested in what was going to happen to him. I decided he really did need his own book. Then as the other characters grew, I thought about the Destined Series and I could clearly see where I wanted it to go.

I am a HUGE Cade Walker fan, was Cade based on a real person?

Um, maybe? Next question please… 😉

Can we expect a third book and if so who’s story will this be?

Yes. The Destined Series will consist of five books. The next book in the series is titled Destined to Forgive and it’s the story of Eric and Emma. I hope to release DTF in September or October of this year. Destined to Rock will be Cord Walker’s story and I hope to release it in December. The final book in the series will be Destined to Overcome and it’s Sammy Sharp’s story. DTO should be released in early 2014.

You write some brilliant sexy love scenes in this series, how difficult was it for you to write them?

Sex scenes are really not easy to write…but they are a lot of fun! 😉

Who are some of the authors who have inspired you??

Oh my goodness, I have been inspired by so many authors…I wouldn’t even know where to begin. They know who they are and they know how much I love them. <3

What are 5 fun facts that we may not know about Lisa M. Harley??

1) I LOVE music. All kinds of music. I have music playing all the time – In the car, in my office, at night when I sleep (or try to sleep.)

2) I don’t sleep much. I have a friend who is almost positive I’m a vampire, because she lives in England and we have our best conversations when it’s the middle of the night here. I write a lot late at night and usually don’t even try to go to bed until 2:00 or 3:00 a.m. Oh, did I mention I also wake up late every day? This leads to a mad rush to get ready to be at work at 8:00 a.m.

3) I am scared to death of escalators and elevators. They totally FREAK me out.

4) I am slightly obsessed with office supplies. I cannot drive past an office supply store without stopping and checking out the pen aisle. You can never have too many pens. It just isn’t possible.

5) I love to drive. Road trips are my favorite thing to do. I often spend my weekends just getting in the car with my family and driving somewhere. We have found some really awesome places on daytrips.

Destined to ChangeDestined to Change

Destiny…it’s really an interesting thought isn’t it…destiny.

Loralei Harper’s destiny was determined before her birth. It was very simple. She was expected to graduate from high school, marry Declan Sharp, and have two kids. She would stay at home with them, while her husband worked on the family farm. But the funny thing about destiny is…it can change in the blink of an eye. Now Loralei has to figure out what to do when everything changes.

Declan Sharp, a sweet country boy, grew up with Loralei. Their parents couldn’t have planned their relationship any better. Loralei was the love of his life and their future was bright, but sometimes life gets in the way of your plans.

Jaxon Daniels, a pierced, tattooed, badass with a gentle soul, just wanted to get out of the city and relax in the country for a little while. The last thing he was looking for was right in front of him. With skeletons in his closet, will he be able to hold on to the woman he loves, when the past comes out to play?

Cade Walker, a cocky cowboy, never gave love a second thought. Sex? Now that was a different story. After a drunken night, all of that changes when he feels something for Loralei…with his heart. This good ole boy learns that alls fair in love and war.

What happens when all of these lives cross paths? Whose destiny will change and who will get their happily ever after?

Nic’s Review of Destined To Change

Destined to Change is the debut novel by Lisa M. Harley.  An absolutely fabulous read but be forewarned, you will be taken on one hell of an emotional ride.  Destined to Change had my full attention right away and I knew immediately that I was going to fall in love with this read, I couldn’t put it down!  An amazing love story full of love lost, love found, lies and betrayal, there is definitely something for everyone in this read.

I love the characters that Lisa M. Harley has created.  Loralei is such an amazing young woman who has had to deal with so much in her young life, she needs to let go of the past and move on with the future but will she have the strength. I couldn’t help feel for Lorelei, she broke my heart.  Jaxon is another swoon worthy tattooed, pierced book boyfriend.  He is completely in love with Loralei but, the problem is he needs to make her see it, make her trust him.  Then there’s Cade the cowboy, great character but I personally didn’t like him.  I found myself losing interest as he became a bigger part of the story!  One of the characters I enjoyed the most in this novel was Lorelei’s Mom, she was AMAZING and I loved her!

Destined to Change broke my heart and put it back together again.  It was a beautiful touching love story that had me wanting more, wanting to know what would happen next.  I found myself getting very angry with the characters and their choices, yes I was very emotionally invested ;-)   If you are looking for a read packed full of story, one full of love and angst, sexual tension and hot steamy passion, a love story that will have your emotions running wild, a love story that you can’t put down, Destined to Change is just what you are looking for.  N 4/5

What would you do if what you worked your entire life to build was suddenly destroyed?

Cade Walker is a cowboy Casanova. He’s cocky and he doesn’t care who knows it. He was raised on Walker Ranch and was destined to one day take it over. What he didn’t know was how soon that would happen. After his parents are killed in a car accident he is thrust into becoming a responsible adult. Well, sort of. Cade is always responsible when it comes to business, but pleasure, now that’s a whole other story.

Suzanna Mallory is a red-headed spitfire, who also happens to be Cade’s best friend. She has loved Cade since they met when they were nine years old, but Cade just isn’t the type to get married and settle down. Suzanna finds herself in an abusive marriage and the only thing that keeps her sane is her daughter, Isabella, and working with Cade at Walker Ranch.

When a fire threatens to destroy the future of Walker Ranch, Cade and Suzanna have to work together to save it.

What will this mean for her marriage or to the feelings that she has for Cade?

And now that Cade thought he found love with Loralei Harper, only to realize she didn’t feel the same way, is he ready to settle down?

Cade- Alternate POV/Suzanna and Branch’s Wedding Day

I went to see Suzy Q on the morning of her weddin’.  I couldn’t believe she was actually goin’ through with this.  I didn’t care what her reasons were, I didn’t understand how in the hell she could marry Branch Johnson.  I’d asked her to go for a walk with me so I could try to talk some sense into her, but she refused.  I decided I’d have to go to the weddin’ and try to talk to her there.

I waited in the room in the back where I knew she would be gettin’ ready for the ceremony.  When she walked in with her mom, I thought Mrs. Mallory was gonna pass out.  She definitely wasn’t expectin’ to see me sittin’ there waitin’ on them.

“Mrs. Mallory, could I have a few minutes with your girl?” I asked with my signature smirk on my face.

Her mom told me not to make her cry and then left us alone.  I walked over to Suzy Q and grabbed her shoulders. “I don’t want you to marry him, Suz. I want you to know you have options. You aren’t stuck.” I needed her to know that she didn’t have to go through with this.

She just kept tellin’ me she loved him and wanted to marry him.  Bull.  There was no way that was true, but nothin’ I could say was gonna change her mind. I finally left the church.  I couldn’t stay there and watch my best friend make the biggest mistake of her life.  I did the one thing I always did to numb the pain – I headed down to the diner and found myself a sweet little brunette to take home with me.
