Cut Too DeepCut Too Deep by K.J. Bell

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I can’t get enough of Miller!!!! Finding love in an unlikely and unexpected place.
I love when I can get lost in a book that doesn’t have the cookie cutter book boy with the cookie cutter sex scenes and the cookie cutter HEA.
KJ Bells’s CUT TOO DEEP had me turning the page from the very first chapter. The initial relationship between Miller and Hadley developed over letters. Although the physical attraction may have already been there, the emotional connection between the two became the foundation for their relationship. I really appreciated this aspect of the story. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not against sex in a book. In fact I love those books. But if a story doesn’t warrant those torrid F* scenes then don’t put them in. Yay for KJ Bell for not just adding gratuitous sex for the sake of a sale. It also is much more difficult to write a story than it is to write sex. We all know how sex ends. Do you know how the story ends?
But speaking of sex… those moments between Hadley and Miller were so sensual and truly loving. Hadley had a very dark past before Miller and there is no way she would have just jumped into bed with him– no matter how hot this gorgeous Italian made man was.
Cut Too Deep was well thought out and flowed well following the characters secrets. The twist in the story was good.
Mac, Hadley’s best friend– I loved his character. he was a great friend that also added some lightness to the story (Hadley’s backstory is quite heavy). I really hope there will be a follow up book that will feature Mac.
I think that Cut Too Deep, displayed KJ Bell’s writing talent well. She is able to write with a sincerity that is both beautiful and sexy. I love that she was able to write about an atypical book boy. He was mature (in his 30’s), he worked hard for his money (not just some random billionaire alpha) and family was extremely important to him. Taking care of his own. Hadley was not a pushover or some meek female m/c. She was fun, not overtly beautiful per se (unassuming beauty) and didn’t need to rely on a man to get on with life.
Cut Too Deep was a well written story and characters. It is definitely worth the time to read.

~EXCERPT~

Dear Ms. Walker,
I know exactly who you are. You’re the beautiful and intriguing young woman who shakes like a leaf when I get near you, but watches me with heated intensity every morning when I arrive to work as though you would like to undress me.

I’m pleased to learn the little voice in your head won out and you decided to mail your letter. Perhaps with distance between us, I won’t intimidate you, and we can get to know each other properly. I would very much like to know more about you.

I am receiving many letters, but let me put your mind at ease. I’m not opening any of them. I’m not interested in words from strangers that are obviously looking for ten tiny minutes of fame. Yours, however, spiked my curiosity. I wasn’t sure if it was the same Hadley Walker that brightens my mornings until I smelled the delicate perfume on the outside of the envelope, and knew with certainty it was you.

You would like to know what I miss the most about home. I’m a man. Your answer, Ms. Walker, is sex. I’m accustomed to having a woman in my bed. There are no women here, and it’s lonely. Would you be willing to keep me company? Fucking through words can be very erotic. Chances are, you squirmed in your seat, shocked by what I’ve written. Your panties are wet, and you’re reading the above sentence over again. Perhaps you’re cursing me, but it won’t stop you from reading on. You said you’re drawn to me, and I am rather enamored with you as well. There is nothing for you to be “curious” about. It’s purely sexual attraction that draws you to me and me to you. I’ve wanted to have you since the first time I saw you watching me. The other morning when your big doe eyes peered up at me, and you knew I’d caught you, I wanted to drag you into the elevator and fuck you until you screamed my name so loud, the entire building heard you. I’ve thought about nothing else since. I saw in your eyes that you wanted me to make you come right there in the building lobby. I’m hard thinking about it.

What do you say, Ms. Walker, would you care to have letter sex with me? When I’m free of this shit hole, I promise to deliver the real thing, and then you can determine if I’m still mesmerizing.

Regards,

Miller Genetti

FLIRTY AND DIRTY BOOK BLOG’S REVIEW OF CUT TOO DEEP BY KJ BELL

Cut Too DeepCut Too Deep by K.J. Bell

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5++++ INCREDIBLE Stars! And yes, I’m using shouty capitals!!! I promise this is one read you won’t want to miss out on!

I was lucky enough to read this book in its early stages and instantly fell in love with its original storyline and brilliant characters. KJ Bell’s writing has amazing flow and I was sucked in from the get go, I needed to know where the story was going. I thoroughly enjoyed the fact that Ms. Bell surprised me at every single turn, I had no idea what she was going to hit me with next.

I adore the characters KJ Bell creates and the characters in Cut Too Deep is no exception. So many incredible characters, I felt like I knew them all. Hadley is beautifully written, so damaged yet so full of inner strength. I loved watching her grow. Miller Genetti *swoon* is the perfect amount of sexy strong alpha male mixed with loving tenderness. Gavin Blake and Ethan Blackstone make way for the new man in town because you gents have some competition! Mac, every girl needs a best friend like Mac, someone to take you dancing 😉 I want a Mac! Then there’s La Familgia, FABULOUS! I want more of this family. The way they care for their own, the hilarious banter… Again I say, FABULOUS!

Cut Too Deep took me on a crazy emotional journey that, at times, had my heart tearing in two. Learning Hadley’s story and all she endured was positively heartbreaking. Watching her try to move forward from her past had me cheering for her. Miller is dealing with his own battle, one of the many reasons I love this honourable man. There were so many twists and turns that I did not see coming. Ms. Bell kept me on the edge of my seat, alway engaged with the story and it’s characters.

Packed full of heartache, mystery and suspense. Cut Too Deep has a healthy dose of angst and lots of HOT sexual tension! It’s a beautiful story about survival and love. If you are looking for a story that will take you on a fabulous emotional ride without leaving you emotionally wrecked, a story that will grab hold of your heart and won’t let go. Cut Too Deep is just what you are looking for in your next read.  Nic
