COMPASS by Stephie Walls ~ Review and Blog Tour

Title: Compass
Series: Siren Song #2
Author: Stephie Walls
Genre: Adult, Romance
Published: August 11, 2016
Sometimes two souls connect on a level where words go unspoken and they just know.

Their hearts align and right or wrong—they just know.

When Moby and Piper collide—they just know. He didn’t have to shout his love from the mountaintops. The only heart that needed to hear his words listened silently to his soul’s communication. A bond that would transcend time and unexpected heartache.

The moment Piper laid eyes on Moby—she just knew. She didn’t have to await results. All the evidence she needed was there…taunting her, challenging her, testing their resolve. Daring her to persevere.

Parents, siblings, and countless friends—none of them knew. Oblivious to their turmoil, blind to their pain. Had they opened their eyes, it was there in front of them, for everyone to see…if only they looked.

A broken man.
A shattered woman.
A crumbling marriage.
No one knew.

*Based on a true story.

There is definitely something about a story based on true events. In this case, I could feel every emotion Stephie Walls undoubtedly felt as her real life Moby endured life altering events. Every tear Piper shed, every bit of anger, defeat, happiness, sadness, indifference, guilt felt in the story was as if I was sitting across from author Stephie Walls as she recounted those difficult years of the unknown with her then husband.
While the characters were those from her previous book Metamorphosis, the words in Compass were so incredibly heartfelt and sincere. Throughout the entire book from cover to cover, I tried to keep my heart from breaking into a million pieces.
I loved taking this journey with Moby and Piper as their love for each other was tested beyond measure. And sometimes you need more than love to overcome adversity. I enjoyed how Walls created such a solid foundation in Moby and Piper’s close friends– Piper’s ‘fish’, Moby’s brothers and the Wrights.
Every turn of the page was worthwhile and Compass was unputdownable– yep it’s a word lol. I love reading real life angst and love. it makes it that much more viable and I can invest in the words. This is definitely a story to put on your TBR. Better yet, one click and read a true love love story with all the feels and sincerity.

I’ve lived all over the country but have made Greenville, South Carolina my home for the last 20 of my 37 years. I have a serious addiction to anything Coach and would live on Starbucks if I could get away with it. If you follow me on Facebook you’ll also find that I’m slightly enamored with Charlie Hunnam. I’m an avid reader (literary whore to be more precise) averaging around 300 novels a year. I have a penchant for great love stories, sensual poetry and am a romantic at heart.

I currently work full-time in the Greenville area and fill my “extra” time with writing contemporary romance novels with a hint of erotica. I couldn’t do it without the support of my family and friends who push me to keep going when I don’t have the confidence or patience.

BORN SINNER (#1 SE7EN Series) by SL Jennings~ Review

SL Jennings’ BORN SINNER has brought back my love for PNR books. I could not put this down. Every single page was intense and had me on the edge. I felt like I was watching a movie the entire time.
The characters are unique yet relatable– and they’re not even mortal, I know.
Jennings wove an intricate tale of angels, demons, warlocks and otherworldlies (I’m making this a word). And while there were many facets and you can’t be drunk to read this, it’s not confusing or disconnected. In fact you continue to get drawn in and as Jennings reveals a little more each turn of the page into this dark world, you can’t help but be in awe. There are many stories out there about the Fallen and archangels, etc., yet Jennings made BORN SINNER her own and something different. I absolutely, unequivocally enjoyed every single character and their role in the story. The sexual tension in the book was crazy and I’m so glad that SL Jennings did not fill this story with wild demon sex. The slow burn was exactly what this story needed. And damn L is hotter than H3LL’s hot tub. Sexy doesn’t do him justice.
SL Jennings painted a mural in vibrant color with her words. This is definitely a series not to be missed.

Reaper’s Fire by Joanna Wylde ~BLOG TOUR & REVIEW~

reaper's fire book tour

The smallest spark can start an inferno!

Gage and Tinker’s story is FINALLY here!

Reaper’s Fire NOW AVAILABLE!

New York Times bestselling author Joanna Wylde returns to the “wild and raw”* world of the Reapers MC with the story of Gage and Tinker…

The club comes first.

I’ve lived by those words my whole life—assumed I’d die by them, too, and I never had a problem with that. My Reaper brothers took my back and I took theirs and it was enough. Then I met her. Tinker Garrett. She’s beautiful, she’s loyal, and she works so damned hard it scares me sometimes . . . She deserves a good man—one better than me. I can’t take her yet because the club still needs me. There’s another woman, another job, another fight just ahead.

Now she’ll learn I’ve been lying to her all along. None of it’s real. Not my name, not my job, not even the clothes I wear. She thinks I’m nice. She pretends we’re just friends, that I’ve still got a soul . . . Mine’s been dead for years. Now I’m on fire for this woman, and a man can only burn for so long before he destroys everything around him.

I’m coming for you, Tinker.

Reaper's Fire (Reapers MC, #6)Reaper’s Fire by Joanna Wylde
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Reaper’s Fire by Joanna Wylde, was everything I had hoped it would be. There is a reason some authors are your go-to authors and this book was just one of many reasons why I love Joanna Wylde’s writing.

LOVE the title, Reaper’s Fire, so much meaning behind the name! Thank gawd my family is away right now, because I was able to read this sexy, hot MC read in one sitting! The Reaper’s series is one of my favourite series, every book has been an amazing page-turner. Reaper’s Fire had a fabulous story line that felt a little more relaxed than some of the other books in the series. I really enjoyed this book because it wasn’t as heavy on the angst, just the perfect balance of angst/romance.

LOVED Gage and Tinker’s story. It was a little different, in that some of the other members of the series didn’t take on as big a role in this story. I love all the sexy Reaper’s bikers. Tinker is another brilliant, strong female main character. Gage is all sorts of sexy-as-hell alpha male biker, I felt he wasn’t as hardcore as some of the other male leads in the series which, made him even sexier to me. Last but not least… Talia. What would a biker story be without a crazy-ass chick in it 😉

For those of you who love to read MC books, Reaper’s Fire is a whole lot of sexy that shouldn’t be missed! Great story that will keep you wanting more, fab characters and lots of delicious sexy-time. Make sure to also read the author notes at the end.

*Can be read as a standalone but you are missing out on some fabulous reading if you don’t read the entire Reaper’s MC series.  Nic

~Reaper’s Fire Excerpt~

“I can’t believe how late it is,” Tinker said, yawning, and I realized the movie had ended. Now she stretched upward, the blanket falling to her waist as her boobs pushed forward.

God, how much should a man be expected to take?

I should’ve stayed away from her completely—that’d been the plan—but something had snapped when I’d seen her out in the courtyard. Couldn’t remember the last time I’d met a woman like Tinker. She was smart and sexy and funny, and she worked damned hard to take care of her family and business. Sure, I wanted to fuck her—you’d have to be gay not to—but I respected her, too.

“I should probably get going,” she said, offering me a smile so sweet I wanted to bite her lips. “I like to check on Dad before going to sleep, and I’ve got to be up early in the morning. I’ve got to package orders for the courier tomorrow—if they aren’t ready by two p.m., I’m screwed.”

I considered rolling over on top of her. Pushing her down into the couch cushions, shoving my leg between hers, and showing her what a real man feels like.

“Cooper?” she asked, looking confused. I blinked a couple times, forcing myself to focus on her face.

“I’m going to watch another one,” I told her, because I’m a goddamn masochist. “You sure you’re ready to head out?”

She frowned, and I could almost read her thoughts. Yes, she should leave. But she wanted me as much as I wanted her. And yeah, I realize that makes me sound like an egotistical ass, but this wasn’t my first rodeo. I saw the lust in her eyes, and the way she licked her lips and stared at my mouth. This wasn’t a one-way street, not even close.

“I guess I could stay a little longer,” she whispered. Christ, she was so sweet and soft. I wanted to bite her even more now. Suck that pouty lower lip into my mouth and shove a finger up her ass.

Break her.

You’re one sick fuck.

Why yes. Yes, I am. Thanks for noticing.

I managed to control the urge, catching her hand instead, giving it a friendly squeeze like some kind of pathetic tool. Her fingers tightened on mine, then she pulled away and snuggled back down under the blanket, raising her feet to rest on the coffee table. I grabbed the remote and clicked through the menu.

Tomorrow I’d do my job. I’d fuck Talia and spy on Marsh and look for any kind of weakness that might end this situation, the faster the better. Tonight, though . . . Tonight I’d pretend this wasn’t a waste of time.

Goddamn, but my dick hurt.

The next hour was torture.

Tinker sat next to me, all cute and classy and absolutely refusing to make any kind of eye contact. I don’t know how she felt, but to me the sexual tension hanging in the air was thick and heavy. I kept thinking about her hand in mine—small, but strong. The hand of someone who knew how to work hard. So far as I knew, Talia had never held down a job, let alone supported herself.

The couch shifted, and I glanced over to find Tinker sliding deeper into the cushions, drawing the blanket up to her chin. Our legs were maybe six inches apart. She shifted again, and then her hand bumped mine under the blanket. She jerked it back quickly, and I caught the hint of a flush on her cheeks. That was another thing I liked about her—her skin was so pale that I could see every hint of arousal.

Grabbing her hand, I pulled it over to rest on my thigh. This was a really bad idea, so I pointedly refused to think it through. Her hand tensed at first, then relaxed into my strength. My cock swelled against the fabric of my jeans, just inches from her fingers—it’d be so easy to push her hand toward it, wrap it around my painfully swollen dick, and just go to town.

Tinker’s fingers gave a quick squeeze—almost more of a spasm—and I bit back a groan.

Yeah, okay. Really, really bad idea. I should get off the couch and shut this shit down right now, because I couldn’t afford to blow things with Talia just yet. Instead I found myself leaning toward Tinker, bumping shoulders.

I’d grown a pussy. No other explanation, because I couldn’t figure out why the hell else an adult man would sit holding hands under a damned blanket like a kid.

Flirty and Dirty Book Blog’s Review of November 9 by Colleen Hoover
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I’m speechless, having just finished Colleen Hoover’s latest novel, November 9. I’ll admit when I first started November 9, I was hooked but…I wasn’t feeling the feels that I had hoped to. I’ve read enough by this fabulous author to know that they were headed my way, when…BANG…They hit me—hard! Sweet and tender, angsty and gut-wrenching…November 9 was just…WOW!

November 9 is such a unique story with unique characters. Fallon is a character that stole my heart immediately. You would have to be heartless to not feel for this beautiful girl, once you learn her story. And Ben…Ben was swoon-worthy from the get go, but there was something about him that I didn’t sit right, I couldn’t quite put my finger on it until…Until Colleen Hoover hit me with a big-ass gobsmacking shocker!!!! Did NOT see that coming! I honestly thought my heart had been destroyed!

November 9 is one of those reads where you think you have it all figured out, but you never really do… So many WOW moments in this story. And then there’s the feels…OH THE FEELS! My heart went on quite the emotional ride—grab your tissues ladies, I sobbed like a baby—and it was so worth it.

Another unforgettable story with beautiful, tortured souls who have consumed my thoughts and my heart. November 9 is a story I won’t soon forget. If you’re looking for a story to steal your heart, November 9 needs to be on your TBR!  Nic

Screwed by Kendall Ryan ~Blog Tour & Review~

Screwed BannerSYNOPSIS

I have one rule: Don’t shit where you eat.

Several of the women in the condo complex I own would love some one-on-one playtime, and why wouldn’t they? I’m young, fit, attractive, and loaded. Not to mention I’m packing a sizable bulge below the belt. It’s a combination that drops panties on a regular basis.

Yay, me, right?

But my cock, troublemaker that he is, has been confined to my trousers by my business partner. A concession I agreed to, and one that’s never been hard to enforce until Emery moves in across the hall. She’s smart, young, determined, and sexy as hell. I want a taste. I won’t stop until I’m buried deep inside the succulent new-in-town brunette.

After being warned about my past, she does her best to steer clear, but I’m about to show her that underneath it all, I’m a guy with a heart of gold and a cock of steel.

My name is Hayden Oliver, and this is my story.

SCREWED is standalone romantic comedy by New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestselling author Kendall Ryan.

My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars

~3.5 Stars~ Another fab read from Kendall Ryan.  If you are looking for a funny, sexy HOT read you’ll want Screwed on your TBR!

I have been a huge fan of Kendall Ryan’s work since her first release. Her writing always has great flow and her stories always have great characters. Not to mention… They are always smokin’ H.O.T.! Screwed was another great read from Ms. Ryan.

Screwed was a fun, sexy romance. A quick read packed full of delicious sexual tension. Hayden is a sexy man-whore you won’t be able to resist and Emery… Hayden has met his match in Emery. She’s had her share of bad relationships—she isn’t ready for another one—but a friendship should be alright, right?!?!

If you’re looking for something sexy and light, with fun-loving characters, Screwed is just what you are looking for. A fabulous quick read to make you smile. Nic

“Tell me more about you,” Emery asks, leaning in toward me.

“What do you want to know?”

“Enlighten me.” She shrugs.

Leaning back in my seat, I cross my ankles. “My job is pretty much my life, and I love what I do. Taking an old rundown building and turning it into luxury units that rent for top dollar is awesome. It never gets old. I love seeing the transformations.”

“That’s amazing.” She nods. “What else … surely there has to be more to you than just work.”

“You want to know something deep, huh?”

She nods, eager.

I think about it for a second, and memories of my checkered past flash through my brain. But rather than watch her expression turn to one of sympathy when she learns my past, I’d rather see her face light up with a smile. “Blow jobs are my spirit animal.”

She rolls her eyes at me, but laughs.

Mission accomplished.

“You seem normal enough. What in the hell did you do to piss off Roxy?” She chuckles as she says this, and suddenly all the blood in my veins turns to ice water.

I scrub a hand across the back of my neck. “Roxy and I . . . it’s a long story, and not one I care to discuss right now.”

She pouts. “Fine. Regardless of your history with Roxy, you didn’t deny what she told me about you.”

“What exactly did she say?” Now I’m actually curious.

She shrugs, playing with the long strands of hair from her ponytail that rest on her shoulder. “She just warned me to stay away from you. Told me about your man-whore background.”

“Well, your virtue is safe. I made a deal with my business partner. No more sleeping with tenants.” I’m not sure why I’m telling her this, maybe because it’ll be easier to enforce the friends-only rule I’ve set for myself if she knows that she’s off-limits to me.

“So sleeping around in general is still fine?” There’s a mocking tone to her voice.

“Absolutely. This will be just friends.” I gesture between us. “Unless, you naughty girl, you’re trying to tempt me.” I give her a flirty wink.

She frowns and shakes her head. “Not a chance in hell. I told you. I’m done with men, and you, Hayden Oliver, by all accounts are a piece of shit.”

“Excuse me?” I cock an eyebrow at her.

“I’ve dated guys like you before. And I classify all men who think with their dicks under S for Shitty.”

“I do think with my cock on a regular basis, so I can’t argue with you there. But he’s so much more fun than my brain.”

This gets a small smile from her, and my heart beats just a little faster.

“Seriously, why would I take a chance on you and have my heart broken again?”

“Because I have a nine-inch cock and I know where the G-spot is?”

Her cheeks turn pink, belying her cool, confident tone. “Tempting, but not good enough.”

Amber to Ashes by Gail McHugh is FINALLY HERE!!! ~Blog Tour, Review & Giveaway~

From the New York Times bestselling author of Collide and Pulse comes a gritty new novel about a shattered young woman who unexpectedly falls for two best friends as she struggles to overcome the trauma of her tormented childhood.

They were a storm I never saw coming, an unforeseen heartbreak on the edge of a dangerous cliff.

Amber Moretti’s life changes in the span of minutes. An orphaned outsider, she is desperate to start fresh the moment she walks onto campus. In the time it takes to cross the university’s dining hall, she meets two men who bring color, air, and light to her darkened world.

They became my addiction, each a needle to my next hit, my high.

Brock Cunningham’s appeal is dizzying, a potent force Amber can’t deny. A green-eyed smooth talker, he instantly attracts Amber. It doesn’t take long for him to consume her every thought, her every breath.

Ryder Ashcroft, a blue-eyed, tattooed, and pierced bad boy, turns Amber off immediately—that is, until he kisses her, stealing a piece of her heart, her soul.

They were as opposite as fire and ice, yet I ached for them equally.

Never knowing she could be broken down in so many unexpectedly beautiful yet petrifying ways, Amber finds herself falling for both men.

Immoral? Maybe. I say undeniable. Uncontained.

But one event changes everything, shattering each of their lives…and Amber isn’t sure she can come back from it.

I am at a complete loss for words right now…. GAHHHHHHHH!!!! Gail McHugh, what have you done to me?!?!? Amber to Ashes proves that it doesn’t matter what Gail McHugh writes, it will be PHENOMENAL!!!! I can’t wait for you to read this 5++ Star book!!!! *

How do you write a review for a book that still has you speechless, two weeks after you finished reading it??? Well… I’m going to try my best to articulate just how fabulous Gail McHugh’s new novel, Amber to Ashes is.

I’ve been a fan of Ms. McHugh from the beginning! Gavin Blake from Collide, and Pulse will always be one of my top book boyfriends…Bottle caps anyone!
The characters are fabulous and well-developed — I wouldn’t have expected anything less from Ms. McHugh — and I dare you not to fall in love with Amber, Brock and Ryder. But be warned, Ryder is ALL MINE!

This book will blow your mind; be it the brilliant storyline, the unforgettable characters, the Mind-Blowing sexy scenes *fans self thinking of one particularly wickedly thigh-clenching scene* or the “Oh My Effin’g Goodness, what did I just read??” thoughts that have constantly run through my head since finishing Amber to Ashes. This book is not to be missed!

*If you aren’t a fan of cliffhangers — which is something I personally will never understand — you won’t be happy as Amber to Ashes has one of the most brilliant cliffhangers I have ever read!!!!

Have you met Author Niall Leonard and the Crusher series…

Every now and then we ladies at Flirty and Dirty Book Blog like to step out of the romance genre and explore other incredible reads. Niall Leonard’s Crusher, the first book in the Crusher series, is one of those reads 🙂 This YA thriller series sounded quite interesting so I thought I would take a look for myself.

WOW! What a fab read!

You can check out my review of Crusher a little further into this post. I will be starting the second book in the series, Incinerator, in anticipation of the 3rd and final book in the series, Shredder’s North American release on April 14th.

Make sure to check out my interview with Mr. Leonard.  Talent definitely runs in this family as Mr. Leonard’s wife is the woman who gave us all Christian Grey… Ms. E L James 😉

Crusher (Crusher #1)

The day Finn Maguire discovers his father bludgeoned to death in a pool of blood, his dreary life is turned upside down. Prime suspect in the murder, Finn must race against time to clear his name and find out who hated his dad enough to kill him.

Trawling the sordid, brutal London underworld for answers, Finn exposes dark family secrets and faces danger at every turn. But he’s about to learn that it’s the people you trust who can hit you the hardest…

Crusher (Crusher, #1)Crusher by Niall Leonard

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Crusher is an absolutely brilliant thrilling read! If you’re looking for a book that will blow your mind, and you love an edgy mystery…this YA thriller is just what you are looking for!

No matter how I write this review, it won’t do Crusher the justice it deserves. It was refreshing to step away from the romance genre and be completely engrossed by this riveting story! I’m dying to read then next two books in the series, Incinerator and Shredder! Crusher is edgy, so many unexpected twists and turns that had my heart in my throat. There is absolutely nothing predictable about this read! I didn’t want to put it down, I needed to know what was going to happen next. Mr. Leonard is a brilliant storyteller, his attention to detail added to the level of mystery and left this reader constantly guessing. Every situation had me on edge and every character had me wondering.

Right from the first few pages, the witty english banter caught my attention. I knew Crusher was going to be my kind of read when the phrase “jammy sod” was said within the first few pages. This is a phrase I love, and use. I’m an english transplant so I get excited by english television shows and books. I was especially chuffed that there was a token Geordie. * inserts hand clapping* Why am I envisioning Gordon Ramsey with a Geordie accent 😉 Some readers may have a problem with some of the English slang used but I think for the most part, they’ll be able figure it out.

The characters Mr. Leonard created are brilliant. Even the simplest character is so well-developed that they left me wondering what part they played in the grand scheme of the story. Finn Maguire is fabulous, his wit, the way he got himself in and out of trouble…Finn is a the kind of main character that keeps readers coming back for more. McGovern or “Guvnor” is a character I can’t quite figure out, is he a bad guy or is he a good guy, I’m dying to know. I’m still on the fence about Zoe again, Mr. Leonard has me guessing. Finn’s Dad’s pub mates reminded me of the kind of old blokes you would find in a local public house. They were brilliant.

Crusher may be a YA thriller but don’t for a minute think this book is only for young adults. This 40-something can’t wait for more of this series. This read held my attention like few books have these days, and kept me engaged. Edgy storyline, well-developed characters, an all around, thrilling ride…Crusher may just be what you are looking for from your next read. I know it was exactly what I was looking for.   Nic

 Incinerator (Crusher #2)

London ganglord The Guvnor is in hiding, and Finn Maguire has begun a new life running a boxing gym with his old friend and coach Delroy. But when Finn’s lawyer Nicky Hale vanishes overnight with all his money, Finn finds himself in hock to a loan shark with a vicious gang of enforcers. Desperate to track down Nicky and repay his debts, Finn investigates her other clients and soon finds himself engulfed in a web of lies, betrayal, malice and madness.

 Shredder (Crusher #3)

North American Release Date: April 14, 2014

A Flirty and Dirty Book Blog interview with Mr. Niall Leonard

What inspired you to become a writer?

I have always wanted to write, ever since I was a kid. I used to plan to make it a sideline to a ‘proper’ job – at one point I wanted to be a writer and a dentist. Then I thought I might be a writer and a teacher. I didn’t think many people made a decent living writing novels… and it turns out I was right!

Has your background as a screenwriter helped you?

Yes and no. Screenwriting taught me about structure and pace, and also a great deal about editing – you have to be ruthlessly efficient to fit a good story into a TV slot that’s only 43 minutes long, hitting all the ad breaks on the way. But it also hindered me, because the more successful I became the easier it got to take well-paid jobs writing to order for someone else instead of pursuing my own projects. I used to complain about how my writing was mucked around on TV shows, and my wife would always tell me that’s what I was being paid for – and if I wanted to tell my own story my own way, I should write a novel.

How different is scriptwriting from writing a novel?

The challenge of a novel is that, unlike TV where the budget is always finite, it’s theoretically possible to take the reader of your novel anywhere and do anything. All that freedom can be scary. I went for a murder-mystery story for my first novel because it was a genre I was used to and I could gently explore the possibilities of flashbacks and inner dialogue that can be so challenging in a TV show but are pretty much standard fare in novels.

What inspired you to write the Crusher series?

A friend complained that her 17-year-old son never read anything because most popular novels were romance and/or fantasy and that didn’t interest him. I immediately responded that ‘someone’ ought to write a gritty, dark detective story featuring a 17-year-old boy. He lives at home with his dad, his mother left them when the boy was 11 or so, and when the father is murdered the son is left alone in the world and has to find out why his father was killed, and by whom.

It soon occurred to me that that ‘someone’ could be me. For the next year or two I let the idea ferment, then when I discovered the NaNoWriMo event, where you’re encouraged to write a novel over a month, Crusher was the story that came to hand.

What do you hope your readers will take away from Crusher?

I hope they’re thrilled and engrossed and amused and moved, and that they want to know more about what happens to Finn as he goes through the next terrifying and turbulent few years.

Do you have plans to write anything after the Crusher series?

I have a plan for a period detective series based on a true story, but I have to say I’m slightly daunted by the scale of the research involved…

Do you prefer to write thrillers or will there be other genres in your future?

Whatever genre I go for I will always try to make the central story gripping and involving. Maybe that’s what constitutes a thriller, but I don’t know. Categories aren’t always helpful.

When you are not writing what can you be found doing?

I seem to have spent every spare minute of the last few months trying to house-train a new puppy and stop her chewing the power cables underneath my desk.

What was the last book you read?

The Shock of the Fall by Nathan Filer, a prizewinning UK novel about a young man slipping in and out of madness after the death of his brother. Right now I’m half way through The Black Eyed Blonde by Benjamin Black, a new novel featuring Raymond Chandler’s hero Philip Marlowe. I’ve always been fascinated by Chandler and Crusher in a way is my version of a Philip Marlowe adventure.

Who are some of your favourite authors?

Patrick O Brian, for his wonderfully researched and vivid stories of the British Navy during the Napoleonic Wars – 20 volumes of them starting with Master and Commander. Bernard Cornwell’s King Alfred series is every bit as enjoyable. I’m a sucker for ripping yarns, the more epic the better.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5++++++ This is one of the most incredible books I have ever read. You MUST add The Unimaginable to your TBR!

I have been trying to write this review for sometime, unsure of how to express just how amazing this book truly is. So here goes.

I found The Unimaginable to be an incredible, emotional journey of a young woman setting out on her own for the first time in her life. This beautifully descriptive story had my full attention right away, making me want to know more about the lovely young woman I had just met, and where her story would take me.

The characters are beautifully written and well-developed and I felt an immediate connection to them all thanks to Ms. Silver’s brilliant writing. Particularly to one little boy, whose presence touched my heart deeply. There is also no denying the strength of the relationships between the characters in this story. Whether the relationship is one of friendship, love or fear, Ms. Silver was able to make me feel the connection. I dare you not to fall in love with Jessica, Quinn and Grant.

I’m not sure what I was expecting when I started reading The Unimaginable, but I definitely wasn’t prepared to be sitting up at three in the morning, heart in my throat and tears in my eyes. So many emotions in this fabulous book. I won’t lie, Dina Silver completely broke my heart and I’m not sure if I can forgive her…You’ll see 😉 The Unimaginable is like nothing I have read this year and for all my heart may have been broken, I found this to be a very uplifting story.

If you are looking for a beautiful adventure with the added touch of a tummy-fluttering romance. A journey that will your break your heart and mend it back together… Look no further, The Unimaginable is one of my favourite books of 2014 and I hope it will be one of yours.  Nic

“Excuse me.”

My thoughts were elsewhere when I heard a man’s voice and then looked up from the dustpan to see him standing at my classroom door. His voice was strong and captivating, much like the rest of him.

“Can I help you?” I asked, and we locked eyes. His smile made me catch my breath.

“Sorry to interrupt. I would like to make a donation to the school.”

I brushed some loose hairs out of my eyes. “How are you with a broom?”

“Horrible.” He looked around. “But I’m a great storyteller.”

He was older than me, late thirties maybe, with rugged good looks. I guessed it’d been at least two days since he shaved. But he was tall and strikingly handsome, and his comment piqued my interest.

“Maybe you’d like to come to one of my classes and share your stories.”

He cocked his head and rubbed the back of his neck, then nodded. “Okay, you’re on.”

My face lit up. “Really? I didn’t think you’d actually say yes.”

“Then why’d you ask?” I let out a small laugh.

“I would love to.” He took a couple steps closer. “You look familiar,” he said with a knowing glance.

“I do?”

“Yes.” He crossed his arms. “I just said you did.”

I shrugged and then leaned the broom against the desk and extended my hand. “I’m Jessica. I’m a teacher here, and also the assistant director.”

He shook my hand, and I felt it in my heart.

“Grant Flynn. Nice to meet you, Jessica. You’re American?”

“I sure am. Sounds like you are as well.”

He nodded. “How long have you been in Thailand?”

“About four months.”

“Have you been with the school the whole time?” he asked.

“I have. It’s been a wonderful experience.”

He crossed his arms again and studied me. “I see,” he said, not taking his eyes off of me. “Are you the right person to talk to about making a donation? I’d like to leave a check if that’s all right.”

“Of course, yes.”

He grabbed his checkbook from his front pocket and pulled a pen from behind his ear. His presence put my nerves on high alert, and the irony that I was behaving like a giddy schoolgirl was not lost on me either.

“Thank you, Mr. Flynn. This is very kind of you.”

Many visitors to Phuket would come by the local schools and leave donations. It was sort of a ritual for some, a way to leave their mark, a gesture of kindness for many boaters to visit the schools and bring supplies or leave a small contribution of a hundred dollars or so.

“Please call me Grant,” he said as he wrote.

I stood behind him dusting myself off when Sophie walked in.

“Hey, mate, what are you doing here?” she asked.

Both Grant and I looked at her, but he answered. “Told you I was going to come by this week.”

“Right. You met my girl, Jess, did ya?”

He turned to me. “I did. She was helping me decide whether my donation should be manual labor or monetary, but I’m going to stick with my original plan.”

He tore the check out and handed it to me.

“You two know each other?” I asked.

“Grant’s been coming in to The Islander all week,” she said.

He pointed at me. “That’s where I know you from.”

I nodded. “Thank you,” I said, taking the check from him. “I’ll see that our director gets this today, and I look forward to hearing your stories.”

I glanced down and nearly gasped when I saw the check was for five thousand dollars.

“I appreciate it.” He touched my shoulder. “See you later,” he said to Sophie, then waved his hand over his head and walked out, allowing me to breathe freely once again.

Sophie and I went to the window and watched as he got into his rental car.

“You know him from the bar?” I asked.

“He and his mate have been coming in every night. I’m surprised you haven’t seen them. They’re docked at the marina, both Americans.”

“Niran had me on lunches last week.”

“He’s a charmer, eh?”

I nodded. “And quite generous.”

“How generous?” she asked.

“Five thousand dollars generous.”

“Shit, no,” she said, and whisked the check from my grip. “Skylar’s going to freak. You working tonight?”

“Nope. Not until Saturday.”

“All right then. See you later,” she said, and left.

I picked the broom up and saw the bus arrive, but all

I could think about was Grant Flynn.

When I came to school the next morning there was a package at the front door with my name on it. Inside were two DustBusters and a note that read: These are more my speed. I’ll see you in class tomorrow morning.

Taming The Storm by Samantha Towle ~Blog Tour & Review~

blogtour_TamingTheStorm_banner TamingTheStormeBookAm

Lyla Summers hates men. Okay, maybe hate is a strong word … Lyla intensely dislikes men.

Her father has let her down her whole life. Her brother betrayed her in the worst way possible. And her past relationship experiences with men have been less than great. Lyla is focussing all her energy into her band, Vintage, so when they receive an offer to sign with TMS Records, it seems that things are finally turning around for her. The last thing she wants is a man getting in the way.

Tom Carter loves women. Okay, love might be pushing it … Tom enjoys screwing lots of women.

When tragedy befalls his best friend, Tom finds himself making a promise to the big man upstairs – he’ll change his ways, if he saves the woman his best friend loves. Tom’s prayer is answered. Now he has to change. Which means no sleeping around.

After Vintage’s manager breaks her leg skiing, Tom steps in as tour manager, and Lyla finds herself on tour with the man whore of rock.

Put one perpetually horny Tom and one sex resistant Lyla together, equals a recipe for disaster. Or so you’d think…

But an unexpected friendship is formed. A closeness neither of them expected. Putting one chastity belt and one lamp that is in desperate need of rubbing, to the test.

Will the sex storm that is Tom Carter, finally find himself tamed by the rock chick with a hardened heart, or will he go back to his womanizing ways…?

TTS countdown teaser #2

“But you said…” I frown.

He gives a slow shrug of his shoulders. “Never intended to sleep with her. I was just”—Tom rubs his head thoughtfully and then smirks—“putting on a show.”

Mother. Effer.

He played me.

All that in there—he was just doing it to drive my jealousy to the front.

“You-you’re a…mother-effing mut!” I hiss.

“Yeah, and you’re the sexiest fucking thing I’ve ever seen in my life. Sleep well, Firecracker.”

Taming the Storm (The Storm, #3)Taming the Storm by Samantha Towle

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have been waiting for Tom’s story for what feels like forever. Thank you Samantha Towle for not disappointing. I can tell you that it was most definitely worth the wait 🙂 I have ignored my family completely while reading this one <3

This brilliant storyteller knows how to captivate her audience! I couldn’t get enough of Tom and Lyla. Be warned though…This is the HOTTEST Storm book yet! Tom and Lyla are scorching together and Taming The Storm is guaranteed to leave your E-reader looking for a cigarette. Once this story heats up, it gets hotter and hotter! Light on the angst, but chocked full of sexual tension, you won’t be able to get enough.

What I really enjoyed about Taming The Storm is that it was different from the first two books in the series. Yes, the characters we have come to love were present but not in the same sense that they were in the first book. There are new characters. And I enjoyed getting to know them all. Please Samantha Towle, tell me you are working on a book for Cale, I would love to get to know him better 🙂 YUM! Lyla was a great character, very true to a woman of her age when faced with a MUT as fine as Tom 😉 You’ll understand the term after you read the book. Tom is definitely a bad boy that leaves the ladies clenching! Rub the Lamp…who knew 🙂 But as much as I loved Tom and his story, Jake Weathers still holds my heart.

Taming The Storm was a FAB read. I thoroughly enjoyed the banter between the characters , it was hysterical at times. Samantha Towle also had me in stitches with some of the pet names she came up with. And I loved the references she made to songs…LOVED IT! If you are in the mood for scorching HOT, sexy rock star read that you won’t be able to put down, this book is for you! But if you are looking for a carbon copy of Tru and Jake’s story, you won’t find it here.  Nic

Craving Him by Kendall Ryan ~Blog Tour, Review & Giveaway~

Craving Him

A Love by Design Novel

(Part of A Love by Design)

In Working It, New York Times bestselling author Kendall Ryan delivered a sexy and addictive contemporary romance about Emmy Clarke, a sweet southern girl out of her depth in New York City’s cutthroat fashion industry, and Ben Shaw, the hot male model who introduced her to a world of pleasureBut their story is far from complete…

Emmy Clarke is no quitter. Toughened by her experience working for fashion heavyweight Fiona Stone, Emmy has come a long way from her country girl roots, embracing her fast-paced and unpredictable life in New York City.

Though that life comes with more than a few complications.

First there’s the mystery of Fiona’s pregnancy, which may or may not involve Emmy’s boyfriend, superstar male model Ben Shaw. Emmy has always known that Ben comes with more baggage than she can handle—and not the Louis Vuitton kind. Yet Ben is the only man who has ever loved Emmy for who she is, and she wants nothing more than to do the same for him, even if it means forgiving his past and overlooking their wildly different lifestyles.

But when a shocking secret from Ben’s past comes to light, unraveling all of their progress, Emmy must decide if their relationship is worth the fight, or if it’s time to ignore her passion for him and let go.

Flirty and Dirty Book Blog’s Review of Craving Him by Kendall Ryan

I had just read “Working it” and fell in love with Ben and Emmy’s story. Don’t get me wrong this was an emotional roller coaster ride that had me hooked.

Craving Him is the continuation of this up and down romance. This book has the things that make a great book. It is so  filled with angst, betrayal, insecurities, physical attraction,HOT SEX and of course LOVE.

Emmy is the cutest thing ever, but she live’s in her head a lot with all the uncertainty go whats going on. She is no doormat just because she feel in love with a hot model with money and a lifestyle she has not used too. Emmy has every right to second guess the relationship because things just keep getting thrown at her and she wants the truth and does not always get it. She knows that her boss Fiona is up to no good and will do anything to get her hands on Ben. I gotta say I love when there is a woman villain in a story and Fiona takes the crown in this story. What a backstabbing conniving woman she is. Smiles in your face and tries to ruin your life later. Emmy is to smart not to fall for her games but manages to still get hurt.

Now let’s get to our handsome, woman panty dropping, sexy model Ben. Oh he is swoon worthy but I have to admit there were times when I wanted to slap him upside his head. He just really has no idea how his choices  affect Emmy and just keeps putting her through emotional hell. I know it has to do with his upbringing but come on Ben smell the BS that keeps you from your girl. He really does get it and he knows if he lost Emmy he would be broken. When he finally gets his head out of his ass he really does put on the greatest show of romance and his heart is on the right track.

This is such a great love story and lets not forget sexy and hot. I thought this book was fantastic because it has it ALL. I gave it 5 stars and you know I am going to be all over Ellie and Braydon story. Its gonna be a good one. Love it when that happens 🙂   Davetta
